Damn, I hoped I would never be one more person talking down on rapbay because they have come hella clean on every deal in the past. I see every now and then that other people have complaints about rapbay. I have to sign up for that list, I guess.
I ordered some CDs just before Christmas, among them OG West coast bad boyz anotha level. Both copies that I got were terribly scratched on both sides and some songs skipped. Damn, they looked like the Fat Boys had been standing on them while recording the video for "The Twist". And on top of that the CDs were resealed, so they looked mint through the seal. OK, I understand that this CD is hella rare, but anyway, if you sell a CD in your store for $19.99 that shit's got to be better than defective no matter how rare it is. AS for now, I have given them $38.98 for two wrinkled CD covers and two discs that are better used for frisbee than listening. I have sent three mails to rapbay and explained the situation, but they haven't bothered to reply any. I guess they either think that the CDs were mint and I am only trying to get free CDs or that they don't care at all since they have enough customers already. I proposed a refund for those CDs, new copies or replacement discs if they were out of stock. I understand that there might be some disagreements on what to do but why is it so hard to reply to an email? At least we could have worked things out in one way or another.
Anybody here who knows what have happened to rapbay's customer service? At least they could have told on the item description that they were used and resealed. They have always been top notch in the past.

I purchased said West Coast Bad Boyz before Christmas, took about hmm - 7 or 8 days to recieve. I think they sent it media mail which is useless, just shows them being cheap. I ended up selling the CD on ebay for higher than what Rap Bay had been selling theirs at.
The copy I had was sealed.
I hope the buyer didn't open it up and find scuffs like yours =/

You should Instant Message Ryan on AIM and bug him about it! He owns the damn site/store! LOL!! You are not lying about their turnaround time. They take a very long time delivering goods. I dealt with Ryan directly with trades for some of the titles I had for some of the ones he had. I would send out the titles he wants from me through Priority Mail and in return I won't get my package from him until a month or two later. In between those times, he supposedly would be out of town doing something. The constant reminders and instant message finally got through him after 2 months and finally delivered the goods.

I've been dealing with Ryan for years, he's not out to do anyone wrong at all, he just has a huge collection, with a shitload of orders, he does so much business now he has hired help, but the turnaround is still slow. With every order you receive from him there is a white peice of paper with the contact phone number. (510) 748-9227 Give them a call, Amy may pick up, she is more than cool and will refund your cash.

You know though, I don't see what's so difficult about pulling some CDs out, sliding them in an envelope, and sending them out in the mail.

Like literally, there's no real excuse for that not to be a 24 hour turnaround once you place your order.

I would like to add that I have done plenty of deals with Ryan previously and he's come clean on all. Even the shipping time was OK, got the CDs within a week or two. I guess they have got too many customers after the heavy advertising in Murder Dog and other magazines. I guess I have to contact them again and again until I get an answer. Thanks.

do they repress CDs and sell them as OGs??? That's shady. Or did you mean reseal?

Some of the old releases are resealed, but are in excellent condition. But then there are some that are used and resealed with scratched discs and wrinkled cover art. I know some of those old No Limit titles he had came faulty at times: opened with scratches and wrinkled front cover art. They were supposed to be sealed, but not all came in that condition. Some of The Click/Down and Dirty CD OG he had (before they were officially repressed) were supposed to be sealed/new, but when I got some of them through the trades I had with him they came opened, scratched, and skipped on numerous tracks. I did get them replaced, but i'm just proving that some do indeed come in the condition I stated. Ryan's been good with me in replacing the CD and coming through with the deal, BUT he takes A VERY LONG TIME to come through with it and respond.

Ight I see what you mean. Rapbay needs to step up on their communication/customer service too. Hire somebody just to read the emails if it's what it takes.

It's all good that someone from rapbay finally comes through, but I have to ask why you couldn't spend the few seconds it takes to give me a reply to any of my mails when you obviously used more time to post this on siccness. At least you could have sent me just one line to tell me that you'll deal with it and get back as soon as possible and not just ignore all three mails.

And if you don't re-seal CDs who did reseal the ones I got? I doubt even No Limit Records or SMG had stacks of scratchy jewel cases, wrinkled covers which they placed their brand new pre-scratched CDs in before they sealed it and sent it out. If you don't belive me I can put up a scan of the brand new CD I got from you next week.

I do not belive that you are out to do bad business with anyone. Like I have said before, I have done plenty of deals with you in the past and they have always been top notch, but what pisses me off is that when I actually get defect products you don't even bother to reply to my mail, three times. Listen, we don't have to discuss this here. I hope you understand that it is not that easy to just give you a call when you're an international customer due to the time difference and the phone fees. I doubt your toll free telephone deal work outside USA, which is why I have sent you emails for you to read when your store is open. After all it is 2006 and not 1986 and email is a common way of communication.

Again, I thank you for replying. I hope we can work something out.
