Stallone ditches Rambo sci-fi plans

(UKPA) – Nov 13, 2009

Sylvester Stallone has scrapped plans for Rambo V to have a sci-fi setting.

The fifth instalment about the action hero will now be set in Mexico, seeing him rescue a young girl from drug traffickers, Empire magazine reports.

Stallone said: "Rambo will be heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished", adding, "there will be blood".

Rambo V had previously been heading in a sci-fi direction and was apparently to be based on James Byron Higgins' novel Hunter, which Stallone owns the rights to.

It would have seen John Rambo in the Pacific Northwest, taking a squad into a secret military base to shut down a man-beast super-soldier project gone awry.

Stallone had described the movie, called The Savage Hunt, as "an amalgamation of fury and intelligence and pure unadulterated rage from before Man became human".

But the Rambo star now reveals "that story will be done using another character in the lead".

It's thought shooting on Rambo 5 will start in the spring.

This is from Sly to your followers:

To all the loyal SZoners out there,

I’m letting you know that Rambo has changed course and the story about hunting the man/beast will be done using another character in the lead. RAMBO himself will be heading over the border to a violent city where many young women have vanished .

There will be blood.

Best,
Sly Stallone
