In order to clear space and generate money to play with, we have to release players. What good is it to release some of our better players just to acquire more decent players? Like it or not, the Niners are in a far better position than we are. They're 19+ million under the cap. All they need to do is acquire a good WR and a lineman or 2 and their offense will be decent. Their D is nice regardless of their standing last year. So like I said, and I hate to have to say it again, but the Niners are better off this year.

^ finally a Raider fan thats not blinded by the Bullshit, The Raiders are Releasing players to get under the salary cap, The Raiders let go of 3 DBs now thats amazing, Also as far as Burgess shitting on the niners D, lets put it this way, a much much older player (Bryant Young) was well on track to putting up better numbers than Burgess, but he was injured, Id sure as hell take Derek Smith before considering Burgess.

well weve already established that collins is weak, but regardless of what moves partake in FA and the draft, SF will have the defensive edge

SMITH IS GOOD BUT HE IS NOT ON BURGESS LEVEL. ALL DUE RESPECT TO BRYANT YOUNG, HE IS A VETERAN AND HAD A GREAT YEAR BEFORE HE GOT INJURED, BUT HIS CAREER IS IN IT'S TWILIGHT, WHILE BURGESS IS AN IMAGE OF YOUNG IN HIS PRIME. THEREFORE, HE SHITS ON THE NINERS DEFENSIVE ROSTER.

AND CHREE DON'T MAKE ME POST NINER STATS FOR LAST SEASON. YOU GUYS WERE ARGUABLY OF THE WORST TEAMS IN THE NFL ALONG WITH THE TEXANS.

Total Tackles Assists Sacks Fum Rec
Derrick Burgess 57 51 6 16 2
Derek M. Smith 116 90 26 0 1
Bryant Young 36 32 4 8 0

What we have here is a comparison of 2 different types of players, Burgess as a D line man goes mainly for QB rushing, while Derek Smith is a run stopping LB and rarely Blitzes, if you compare BYs stats to Burgess, they are deceiving, BY played roughly half the games burgess did. Now as for effiency, lets divide Burgess' numbers by half (Since BY appeared in half as many games and this is what u get.

Burgess 28.5 25.5 3 8 1
BY 36.0 32.0 4 8 0
Now looking @ that, id say these players are pretty evenly matched
