^At the same time Tay, you have to factor in the fact that no one wants to cooperate in helping to solve these murders for fear of being labeled a snitch...I used to own a business where we housed vehicular evidence. The biggest problem I would hear about unsolved murders was the willingness for witnesses to come forward...take the race card away for a moment and think realistically...how could investigators solve anything unless they have a suspect still on the scene with a smoking gun unless they have cooperation for someone? Again, throw the race card out...I know plenty of very poor white areas where police cooperation is zero as well because people are terrified of reprocussion or being labeled as a snitch. In 2011, unless we want to continue to see our young men and women die for NOTHING ( I can't think of ONE good reason that anyone would want to take the life of Markeise ), we may have to change our mindset on what is considered snitching. Sure, as men and family members we have bravado and the need for revenge...but at the same time, that leads to just one or more men in prison for retaliation, plus a cycle that never ends.
The second part of this situation involves the parents of the children out killing other children...where are they? Of course there are hardhead kids that won't ever care even if they grew up with Ward Cleaver as their dad...but for the most part, people with good caring parents are AFRAID of their parents...if not physically, then definitely to the point of being terrified to dissapoint them.
I think of all these things every time I see another young man shot dead in Oakland for probably less money than I have in my pocket on a bad day...but I think of it much more when I see someone like this young good man that I remember out-rapping the older veterans in the booth at age 15 and had a very bright future in front of him.
