But to think that R&B is so engrained into hip-hop that it will continue on and on in future generations is ludicrous. I believe that R&B will eventually take its place as a Beethoven/Mozart type of art form, as hip-hop gradually takes over.

How so, friend? Or are you just lumping random blanket criticisms on me, thinking i won't be in your face? What am i ignoring?

There is contention, friend. Someone says something, i weigh its relevance, then i either choose to build on it or counter. How can i be "ignoring the points" when i very specifically, in my first lines, address what the person had previously said?
If anything I lump the criticisms on you to get you in my face, I aint tryin to take a shot and run. As far as the ignoring goes I probably made a mistake in posting this on this thread, and had just bounced here from your "Jada Kiss for president" thread, to which this would probably be a more fitting post. I aint knockin you(hard), I like this banter, I just think you can come off misguided sometimes, and it seems you pick and choose issues to speak on, and then play the semantics game to avoid the key issues of a post and put the thread into some crazy tangent...but that's just one mans take.

Vivian Green is doing her thing too, her cd is pretty good. Raphael Saddiq's cd is good too. I'm going to swoop Sweetback's first cd after listening to the samples, that shit is fire.
Sade is bomb whenever she drops too.

i was thinkin about vivian green after i posted my last post, she'll get better as time goes on.

@tadou....I doubt you had heard of Lil Flip as soon as he started droppin tapes. I'm sure you didn't have bg chopper city as soon as it came out..... My point is, just cause you ain't heard the artists doesn't mean they are greats!

@jazzfan....
you NEED to get these 4 cd's...
sweetback's 2 cd's. New one is on point too
Amel Larrieux (lead singer for groove theory) Infinite possibilities
Maysa--out of the blue.

you won't be disappointed

tadou honestly man i dont think rnb is going anywhere, as you can see on tv everyday, what mtv and bet portrays as "hiphop" is some blended pop-hop rnb bullshit. so unfortunately its here to stay. not to say that i dont dig rnb, im still waiting on another jodeci album and jagged edge is tight. and whenever females are going to be roaming the earth theres always gonna be some men out there trying to swoon them.... or hell just get some punani

Chris good lookin, I'm going to swoop the Amel Larrieux cd with the quickness, it sound good from the samples on amazon.com. Maysa remind me of Anita Baker a little bit or am I just trippin?
I dont like Sweetback's new cd it has a little but of a raggae (sp?) sound to it which I'm not feelin. Good lookin on the rest tho. thanks

Tadou, wow, ok I see what you're gettin at...you're talkin about new age R&B, not old shit like Teddy Pendergrass and all the LEGENDS. Yea, R&B sucks today. Alicia Keys' "FALLIN" was a wonderful fuckin song, I must admit, and I want to fuck the shit out of her, LOL!! But yea, she's startin to turn somewhat. Jodeci and Jagged Edge are the remainders...well, not so much Jodeci but K-Ci & JoJo, that "X" album was off the chain as well as the joint with "All My Life" on it.

But ok, I see what you mean, that kinda fake R&B...yea that shit is pretty gay.

Who tha fuck cares? I been followin cash money since "Ha", and i still have some old Swisha from 99, "Afta Da Kappa" and other shit, that had some old Lil Ron and Slim Thug and Flip shit on it. Got some underground Flip shit too. So dont even get it fucked and say some shit like i never started listening to Flip until Undaground Legend...cuz i been knowin for a MINUTE...

And like i mentioned....my main sources on non hip-hop are just keeping an eye out on BET/MTV/Yahoo and Billboard. And i aint seen a nann one of them names

@lunitunez
True enough.....but you gotta admit, most R&B is taking that DIRECT turn towards Hip-Hop (Usher, Brandy, Alicia)....and pop music is trying to go the alternative route (Jessica simpson, britney, etc.).

By the time its all said and done, the only viable formats i see are: 1) hip-hop, 2) rock/alternative, 3) r&b with HEAVY hip-hop influence, 4) pop with HEAVY alternative influence, and 5) country.

The R&B concept---bumpin beats, a smoothe bassline, soulful voices--will continue....but the subject content, music composition, fashion style, etc are all turning towards hip-hop.........so much so that it really DOES make sense to say R&B is for weaker people or "not yet there" people........or pussies
Man yeah cuz I c that r and b is hip hop man india is as close as we getting 2 r and b man

chamillionaire is the only one impressing me lately. Even that messy marv cd was a disappointment. San quinn's shit is his best in a long time, and it's still just aiight in my eyes.

jazzfan, I ordered some shit today you would probably like, I'll shoot you names of it later on, cause I can't remember the name, but i peeped it on amazon and it was slappin
