WHATS THE DIFFERENCE I BOUGHT 1 4 MY SON BUT THE LADY TOLD ME THE 40 DOESNT PLAY PS2 GAMES IS THAT TRUE SOME HELP WOULD BE COOL?!

I dont think either does...at least not backwards compatible hardware wise. You can download firmware through Sony that will let you play most games, but not all.

Only the 20 and 60GB were 99% backwards compatibile. YOu can find them on eBay...thats where I copped mine.

THE 40GB IS THE ONE THAT RUNS THE BEST. IT RUNS AT COOLER TEMPERATURES AND COMPRESSES GRAPHICS OR SOME SHIT BETTER AND LOADS QUICKER

the 20gb and 60gb ps3 (first models that they dont make no more) have the ps2 chips in them and are fully backward compatiable. the 40gb has no chip and thus cant play ps2 games. the 80gb emulates the ps2 games and i guess can play about 98% of the games thru the emulation software. Dont know why its not in the 40gb but its only in the 80gb. not 100% sure but thats what I know.

I gotta 80 gig wrapped up for my kids now. The 40 Gig will not play older Playstation Games ...1 or 2. No HDMI port on the 40GB , no memory card reader, shit.....read for yourself.
