I've said everything I had to say in the last Cali-Prop thread about this. I just wanted to come here and say that in that last thread I said that the human genome project isolated a gay gene. I read this from what I thought was a reliable source but I got the chance to talk to an actual Genetic Scientist last week and she told me that it wouldn't be isolated to a gene but would be a combination of factors. She said that they are pretty sure that homosexuality develops in the womb as a response to the mother's environment-toxins, stress, etc.

Otherwise I still say NO to Prop 8--I don't care about churches and the sanctity of marriage is complete bullshit to me. It boils down to a human rights issue for me and its as simple as that.

@thatguy -- only a hick from Eastern Washington would worry about somebody trying to fuck and marry animals. Step your intelligence game up you fucking Neanderthal.

Im pretty high right now, so bear with me for a minute, buuut, the law should and for the most part does exclude the glory of any god. His/Her/Its law isnt American law. And what do you mean marriage is for people that believe in god, athiests cant be married? Hindus/Native Americans/Etc cant be be married? Yes they can and that because marriage is a licensed agreement between two consenting adults in America, not something that is bestowed upon a lucky few by a divine being somewhere far far away. uumm...and i thinks thats it till im sober...k

So YES, christian religion has a lot to do with the way this country was built. We have the right to practice any religion, but the United States was built under Christianity. Learn the flag salute, that alone says a lot. As for culture, I have studied them. Italian, Mexican-American, African-American, Irish, English, Japanese...and I'm not done studying. A legal union IS equal. You can come over here, and we can go talk to my next door neighbors if you don't think so. Fact of the matter is, if you have your LEGAL game RIGHT, it doesn't matter if you're gay, straight, married, single...nothing. In California, the union is legal, and it is equal. I'm also getting an A in Law (since we're bragging about grades and all). In the end, if you want to leave something to somebody, you can leave it to anybody. Companies accept gay couples for benefits programs, courts accept legal unions. What is NOT equal about it?

Oh, and I never used my religion as an argument. I said my religion says gay marriage is not ok, but it also says birth control is not ok.

I STARTED TO TALK ABOUT ETHNOCENTRICITY BECAUSE BELIEVING THAT OTHERS TO SHOULD HAVE TO UPHOLD THEIR MORALS TO THE SAME THAT YOUR RELIGION BELIEVES IS AN ETHNOCENTRIC BELIEF.

IF YOUR REASON IS BECAUSE IN THE BIBLE AND IN YOUR CHURCH THEY TELL YOU THAT IS NOT RIGHT, AND IT IS A SIN FOR A 2 MEN or 2 WOMEN TO LOVE EACHOTHER IN A ROMANTIC WAY AND BE SPIRITUALLY and/or LEGALLY MARRIED, AND VOTING ON THEIR RIGHTS AS FREE ADULT PEOPLE AND HOW THEY MUST LIVE THEIR LIFE AND HOW THEY SHOULD PLAN OUT THEIR FUTURE ACCORDING TO THE DEMAND OF THE RULING CLASS(VOTERS THAT BELIEVE ITS WRONG FOR NUMEROUS AMOUNTS OF REASONS), THEN YOU ARE BEING ETHNOCENTRIC IN YOUR DECISION.

its not about letting them get married its about having them call it a marriage. its just a word i dont know why they are so upset about this shit they still goin to be able to get the same benefits a straight couple has..
