With the trading deadline the last significant opportunity for the Miami Heat to make use of expiring contracts, Ricky Davis and point guard Jason Williams could find themselves in play over the next 48 hours.
Among players the Heat has been linked to in trade talks are Golden State Warriors forward Mickael Pietrus, Memphis Grizzlies forward Mike Miller and Memphis point guard Kyle Lowry. The Chicago Tribune also mentioned New York Knicks center Eddy Curry on Monday, but it is doubtful Riley would have interest in a big man who neither plays defense nor rebounds and earns an average of $10 million over the next three seasons.
The Heat also approaches the trading deadline hopeful of putting an end to the situation with point guard Smush Parker, who has been on paid leave from the team since a November run-in with a valet-parking attendant. Should a Parker deal not be found, a buyout or an action of reinstatement by the players' union could be the next step.
