No, he doesn't. He fights smart, but when he connects with a clean hit with other fighters, he follows it up with combos, as if he's actually trying to win the fight by a knockout. He didn't do that at all with DLH. He would land a quick- weak punch, and move out the way as quick as possible. Are you gonna tell me that's how he always fights?

That's exactly what I said in MOREBASS's thread and dude is already knocking my opinion.

Oscar over the hill? Why wasn't I hearing this stuff before the fight? Hahaha, brand new excuses, pathetic..

Age of Mayweather = 30
Age of De La Hoya = 34

Oscar 38- 5
Mayweather 38 - 0

5 more fights in the rings, so your next excuse is that all of his fights were tougher right, and they drained him out by age 34? Please, and the fight was only boring to those who rooted for De La Hoya or simply hate Mayweather..

Yeah it really wasn't a great show on either fighter's behalf. Anyone who says DLH (as much as i hate him) doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame is trolling.

Anyone who says Oscar won the fight is also trolling.

Anyone who says Mayweather wasn't hand fed some opponents is trolling too.

Anyone who says _______ fought a great fight on saturday is yup....trolling.

I dont know who's being sincere on here anymore lol

I'd have to agree also with a lot of my peers that this confirms that Oscar is and has always been one of the most overrated fighters/former R&B singers in Boxing history! Seriously, every career defining fight the guy has he gets in "the best shape of his life" for and ends up getting schooled or beat up.. The only thing that Oscar has shown us is that you can sell tickets at the expense of people's ethnic/national pride and with your charm, but when it's time to box, all that extra shit is worthless..

Notable losses:
Mayweather
Mosley
Mosley
Hopkins
Trinidad

Notable wins:
None, everybody he's beaten was either old and out of their prime (Chavez, Camacho), sub-par (Ike Quartey, Vargas), or his win was disputed (Whitaker, Sturm)..

A boxing fraud has been exposed for the last time imo... R.I.P to a highly overrated career.. :dead:

Post-fight press conference: http://www.zshare.net/video/delmaypost-wmv.html

WTF? DLH beat everyone in his weight class that was a challenge to him, which is why he started moving up to higher weight classes. How does that make him overrated? He took everybody out that anyone would have considered "worth fighting". He defended his titles against everyone who moved in the ranks and earned a right to fight him. He didn't dodge anybody back in his prime. Once he moved up in weight he started to lose fights and there wasn't exactly a line of fighters waiting to fight him anymore.

I'd like to see how long Mayweather will last fighting at a heavier weight class. I bet he'll end up just like Roy Jones Jr... Just another overrated boxer with a big mouth and an embarrassing ending to his career.

How cowardly of you, why don't you simply call me a troll? A lot more honest, I say De La Hoya had too many losses to be considered as Hall Of Fame material, talent wise, it's inevitable though based on his popularity. A troll is an irrational person who makes up excuses and refrains from giving any type of uplifting comments in order to mis-lead people into believing their slander and agreeing with their delusional opinions only meant to disrupt. At the end of the day I've never seen anyone get this much flac for winning and a talentless fighter get praise just for being popular and "showing up to fight" (even when he gets schooled).. At the end of the day as a rebel, it makes me support Floyd that much more, opinions like these I see as disruptive..

Like what, heavy weight? You people push Mayweather too hard, all this pressure comes from his undefeated record, but he's not Diego Corrales. I doubt that he'd kill him self for a few spoiled fans..

Heavyweight???? I'm talking about how he moved up in weight for this fight. If he stays in this weight class, there will be a lot more fighters for him to prove himself to. Roy Jones dominated his weight class, so he moved up to fight bigger fighters, and his career went bye-bye. DLH moved up, and that's when he started losing fights. I want to see if Mayweather can do any better. I was a Mayweather fan since way back when he first started coming up, but after almost 10 years I became dissapointed in him because he was fighting a bunch of nobodies, just like Roy Jones Jr. They both built there careers on turning weak boxers into punching bags just to make themselves look better than what they really were. I want to see if Mayweather can last in a higher weight class than what he is used to fighting in.

I really truly do see what you're saying, but it's irrational to me that fans keep doing this every fight he has, and when he wins easily it's always some nonsense about him not fighting the best, it's an ending cycle for him. He may just be that good, critics don't take that into consideration and only choose to not follow Occam's razor, he's guilty before proven innocent, which is dumb.

If you were once a Mayweather fan and stopped, the only possible reason for that is that Boxing propaganda, the kind which you will find in this thread has affected you. Mayweather has went after the WBC belt everytime, challengers come to him, not vice versa, until someone can name 3 challengers that he officially ducked then people will have a point, but they can't.

Hatton's camp admitted they weren't ready when Floyd was at 140, same with Cotto.

Mosley wasn't ready and after he beat Vargas he acted like he wasn't interested in Floyd. I'm tired of hearing about the Margarito clown, can't wait til Williams digs off in his ass..

The list goes on, only fight he could of had but didn't take was Winky, which only shows how wise he is, Winky is about to fight Hopkins' big ass for crying out loud..

I really hope this opens doors for bigger fights for him then. Mayweather is still young and he needs to jump at every chance he can get before he gets burnt out like most other fighters. Fuck that retiring bullshit.

Hopkins didn't reach the highest point in his career till he was like 37 or some shit like that. Winky Wright has some pretty big balls to face Hopkins, and I can't wait to see that fight.

Floyd would spank all them bums you listed. If he didn't duck De La Hoya why would he duck them tomatoe cans? People gotta stop hatin' on Floyd. In the critics eyes you haven't fought anybody until you get knocked out.... Floyd whooped De La Hoya and that should be the end of it. And De La Hoya is not over the hill so stop making excuses. Just give credit where credit is due. Mayweather made him look over the hill. De La Hoya got whooped so bad he knows in his heart he doesn't want a rematch. And to the dude that said Mayweather needs to step up to a heavier weight.... Didn't he start at like 130? And then went to 147? And then he stepped up to 154 and spanked the champ and took his belt. Stop hatin' and give credit where credit is due. It was a great fight and the better "boxer" won! Mayweather should just retire because people are hatin' too much and they want to see him lose. They want to see him go in there, brawl and then get knocked out just to prove a stupid point. It's not going to happen people. If De La Hoya couldn't whoop Floyd on Cinco De Mayo give it up! Mayweather can't be beat! He's the best boxer of our era! 38-0!!

As I've said before, I honestly don't think Floyd ducked anyone because let's face it - Floyd is all about money. None of those four fighters listed would have drawn attention from non-hardcore boxing fans thus wouldn't of paid Floyd. I believe Floyd also truly believes he could have beat any one of those fighters.

Not that that is a good excuse, but I think that's the honest truth. And it does highlight a negative quality about Floyd and that is he allows $$$ to dictate his career, which in all honesty makes it a lot harder to argue he's the greatest because the greatest would fight the best competition regardless of $$$.

You're naming people that De La Hoya lost to, how is that helping your argument? Again, Mayweather beat Hernandez also and Quartey is far from a legend, I don't even know who the other guy is. Also "Hater" is such a strong word, no reason to get so personally invested, lol..
I apologize that the word hater has such an effect on you.
But the case for Oscar has been made by many in these boards and boxing analysts as well. At this point, only a “hater” wouldn’t give him his due.
Or the one guy who’s girl got tossed by Oscar after one of his fights.
I’m not saying it’s you but you did imply that you’re not hater.
I’m running out of possible suspects here,
perhaps you’re Felix Trinidad in this bitch.
Who knows?

I love the fact that you resorted to typical character assassination in order to prove a fringe point. So original…. You went from “Oscar got schooled” to “Oscar sucks”.

Tito Trinidad said:
Nobody, only pointing this out so you won't use the "Oscar has fought better competition" bullshit as some type of argument, since Floyd has been calling out Oscar for years and fighting all of Oscar's former opponents.
You brought this up upon yourself by attacking Oscar’s character.
You tried to discredit his career and even went as far as to suggest (no I won’t say “point” because your argument holds no weight) that Floyd has magically fought the better opposition. Win or lose, the fact is that no one has faced better competition this generation than De La Hoya. But go and continue your rhetoric, you’re only convincing yourself. You’re talking out of your ass, it has been demonstrated to you by many in these boards and boxing analysts and historians.

And just to prove that you’re talking out of your ass,
how does two common opponents equal to “every” fighter?
Ok maybe you can throw Floyd’s uncle Jeff who Oscar knocked out in the mix.
Maybe Floyd sparred with him or something. I give you three common opponents….

Tito Trinidad said:
That's because frankly sir, you're either blind or in denial, Floyd was obviously the better fighter which is why he won and why Oscar admitted it in the post-fight press conference. There needs to be no rematch since Floyd won, and quite easily (compared to others who beat De La Hoya).. Floyd is the best p4p because no one has beaten him nor have they beaten their respective competition as decisively as Floyd.
I’m calling that bullshit, on two counts.
First, Floyd didn’t beat him easily.
This doesn’t even compare to Oscar’s biggest loss to B-Hop.
Not to mention his first loss to Shane Mosley.
Fuckin Felix Sturm gave De La Hoya a tougher time lol

Second, best pound for pound goes for B-Hop.
Yes B-Hop lost two decisions to Taylor, but they were fights where I and many saw him win.
But he bounced back and defeated Tarver.
Everybody and their mama knows Castillo beat Floyd.
Not to mention Floyd’s daddy who thinks De La Hoya beat him….
This is “subjective” (ooo that word again), but my top pick goes to B-Hop.

Tito Trinidad said:
^Okay, this was a pathetic attempt at being condescending only it was too desperate, I'm glad that you learned a new fifth grade English word, now please go back and read my response to what you said instead of assuming that I misinterpreted you, because posting all of that was redundant.
In that case Tito, why didn’t you understand that even those punch stats you brought up are subjective???? They are as subjective as a judge's decision.

And don’t you think for a second that I will let you off the hook for indirectly admitting that you’re judgment is influenced by Compubox!
And I’m supposed to take your take on the fight seriously?
You just exposed yourself….

Tito Trinidad said:
Again, running is what De La Hoya did in his fight with Trinidad, Floyd put on a clinic and ended the fight the same way, unlike De La Hoya..
Running the final two rounds of a fight he dominated. Ali and Leonard did it all the time.

Hahahaha….
So now Mayweather put on a clinic????
I agree with you there.
He put on a boxing clinic against Gatti!
Your boy had trouble getting anything done on a consistent basis against De La Hoya.
He had a hard time landing his usual punches.
He had no answer to the most basic punch in the game, the jab.
How is that a boxing clinic?

When will you admit that Mayweather didn’t have it easy?

PS…. My bad for mistaking you for “El Gran Campeon Puerto Riceno”,
Felix “Tito” Trinidad.
I just didn’t realized you relied on Compubox to score your rounds.

Rest in peace Diego "Chico" Corrales....

Like I said, Im a big Mayweather fan and i'm DLH's harshest critic, because frankly...I dont like him. The fight was exciting to me because it was live...which makes any other sporting event that much more exciting. Would I watch it again for entertainment value? No way. I expected a better fight. Floyd beat Oscar and i'm happy about it but that doesn't mean it was as glorious as the hype intended it to be.
