^^^ Hell I dont know Steve Kim neither...not saying that your trying to say this rob but just because we dont know about dude doesnt mean that we dont know shit about boxing. There are people who just study the sport through articles and t.v. and then theres those who have experience and savvy for the sport.

I know what intermediate means, I just never heard it in terms of being a sports fan...lol Who calls themselves an intermediate fan? I took it as you saying you have average knowledge of the sport. The only thing I was going to edit was, "You admit you have intermediate knowledge...", so was I saving face...not really.

Wow, all I have to say is that you seem to not have a good grasp on the english language or boxing terminology.. You also said that since I didn't know Steve Kim, then I was probably not a purist, from that statement I can easily infer that you don't know what a Boxing purist is, since it has no bearing on Steve Kim or anybody for that matter..

Purist:
A purist is one who desires that a particular item remain true to its essence and free from adulterating or diluting influences

^I'd like you to find a way to spin your way out of this with out saving face, what does being a Boxing purist have to do with Steve Kim?

In boxing circles, by saying someone's not a "boxing purist" is more or less knocking their lack of knowledge of the sport as a whole rather than combining the literal meaning of the word purist with boxing. I've seen many definitions of "boxing purist" but the best I've come across is this.

A Boxing Purist is a person that appreciates the true beauty of the sport....feels, loves and understands the profound nature of the Original Gladiator Sport...A boxing purist admires the courage it takes just to get in the ring and face another man with the same goal and/or objective...A boxing purist can "hate" a certain boxer but respect him at the same time....A boxing purist has a certain affection for many ring styles and understand's the cliche that "style's make fights"...They most certainly do!! A boxing purist will watch almost any boxing match just because "you never know" where you'll find a great match...more times than not the great fights are NOT the ppv "hype fights". A boxing purist can see the HUMILITY in a man like Mike Tyson inspite of his short comings and disappointments...love him or hate him is legacy will live far beyond our years on this earth...A boxing purist begs for a fighter to retire for fear of seeing that boxer get hurt....even if it's just "one last hoorah"....
Oh, and a boxing purist usually doesn't like watching boxing in loud distracting places...purists like to hear the fight, the commentary, the crowd reactions, the cornermen, the impact of the punches etc...

I've seen some other very good definitions of a "boxing purist" and alot of them aren't true to the dictionary definition of purist.

@ Anaheim*Rob
Before I begin, at first glance your explanation must of taken a lot of creativity and twisting of terminology, but obviously you're unsure which is why you spent so much time and space thinking of a way to convince me of the legitimacy of your new definition, but let me see..

^How do I know you're telling the truth and not just conveniently twisting the definition to support your statement, which it is obvious you're doing since no one uses the term in that manner? You'll have to show me an example..

Hahaha! Verbal ingenuity in its top form.. What happened to the definition I gave? Did they expand on it, did you copy and paste that or is this what you've truly gained from constant use of and experience with the term? Imo you put way too much on it, and it still has nothing to do with knowing who Seve Kim is, why can't you admit to saving face?

^Where have you seen them and which one of these many elusive definitions has any relevance on knowing Steve Kim?

Have you ever seen a Mayweather fight before??? I think all the people who are disappointed never have because that's Mayweathers style and always has been. Great defense, speed, and to fight smart. Even when he woops peoples ass like Gatti, he fights the same way.

No, he doesn't. He fights smart, but when he connects with a clean hit with other fighters, he follows it up with combos, as if he's actually trying to win the fight by a knockout. He didn't do that at all with DLH. He would land a quick- weak punch, and move out the way as quick as possible. Are you gonna tell me that's how he always fights?

Instead of knitpicking at eachothers vocabulary (or lack thereof), why don't we all just talk about the boxing match...

AND HOW IT DIDN'T LIVE UP TO IT'S POTENTIAL BECAUSE OSCAR IS OVER THE HILL AND MAYWEATHER DIDN'T WANT TO PRESS THE FIGHT. I enjoyed it before but now i just want my $55 back. fuckas.
