Auto's are great for launching off-line. Most bracket racers I know have switched to four speed auto's for that very reason. It's hard as hell to launch an M6. Even with a "driver mod", it's still impossible to get the jump on a built auto.
A 4l60E with a 3000 stall and shift kit will always hole-shot a manual transmission.
The Transgo shift kit for a 4l60E is actually a shift improver kit. Those soggy, unfelt shifts you tend to feel in old transmissions are not because of the smoothness of the gears, it's because they're wore down. My Impala has a shift improver kit, and hits the gears hard every time without trouble.
However, any hard launch, with or without a shift kit, is bad for the rear end.
And you're originally from San Jo right? You don't respect Honda's? I'm DEFINATELY not an Import guy but I know for a fact them "youngsters" with a simple swapped motor in EK/EG/EF hatchbacks looking bone stock on the outside would race and take your money in a heartbeat if you came up acting like your SRT8 was God.
damn dog, ask delon pappin (700 indo mob) about how me and him used to swang our whips behind safeway on berryessa and capital on the regular in my 69 cougar and his ls 5.0 stang...
