I had no clue.

I always thought that Cowher was behind those drafts.

Why does everyone say that to get him as a HC he'd have to be GM too?
I really don't know. Probably because conventional wisdom in the NFL sucks. Cowher had a say in the players, and he did a great job coaching people taken in the later rounds (especially linebackers), but he wasn't the amazing coach people thought he was. Up until he won that Super Bowl, he was a bigger tease than Marty Schottenheimer.

There were rumors last year that if Cowher took a job, Colbert would come with him, but he signed a 5 year contract extension this year.

I'm not taking away from Cowher, he was consistently competitive and a great guy and everyone in the city loved him. But he was handed a good team, went through his career with Donahue and Colbert as his GMs, and had some really great coordinators. He just ran the football all day long and struggled against high scoring offenses.

cmon bruh al davis has a plan lmao?.

What do you think the reason is that Al brought Hue Jackson for in the first place? To stay an OC? No. Many people speculated at the time that he was brought in to one day be the Head Coach. I'd even go so far as to say that he probably told Jackson something like "if we don't make the playoffs, I won't renew Cable's option and you'll be HC next season."

Now that he's released Cable, it's clear. Davis was never really enamoured with Cable. He picked him quick because he had to cut Kiffin. Cable was a stop-gap. Wrong or right. I happen to think he became a great coach and majorly improved both the team and the team culture. He also defied Al, which is risky. If you defy Al, you better make the playoffs.

Hue Jackson improved the Raider offense from 17 TD's to 37 TD's. Brought us from 31st in total scoring to 6th. He proved himself to be good OC. Now, I happen to think any decent OC could produce numbers like that with Darren McFadden, Michael Bush, a decent run-blocking line and Jacboby Ford, but Hue deserves some credit.

When Cable failed to make the post-season and went 2-8 outside the AFC West, Davis knew what to do. He executed

Whether you or I agree with it or not, he had a plan.

Only time will tell if it works or not.

Just a hunch so no one wet their pants yet. What do you think? I think something big is about to happen. I can't see Hue getting the nod this soon but with AL you never know. Any thoughts?

Definitely not.

As I've already stated...Al Davis does NOT cash out head coaches. The guy changes his mind about coaches so quickly, that he wants to avoid having to pay for fired coaches.

Also, do you think Al Davis is going to be able to offer Harbaugh the power of personnel decisions he's going to get in SF or even Denver?

Doubtful.

Actually word is the new HC wont have much personnel clout at all. Between Bowlen, xanders and now Elway (shutttteeerrrrr) thats your ultimate decision making core right there. They (Broncos) are tired of all the same mistakes with a HC with too much power (shanny and Mcd both)

well said, Cable was lucky to be brought back this season, Davis brought Hue in to be the eventual head coach......I think cable deserves credit for getting the team to play hard all the way to the end. But its really hard to say how much credit Hue actually gets for the turn around in the offense. I mean, before this season NO ONE could coach that offense with Jamarcus running it.

Hue could've done a better job with Russell at qb than what Cable did.

JaMarcus didn't apply his self like a number one pick should've, but to be fair Cable was the offensive coordinator calling the plays. JaMarcus didn't have a real NFL offensive coordinator. So of course he was going to struggle with reading defenses.

That shit makes more sense to me now...

who's the raiders defense coordinator tho?

I think Cable would fit there perfectly with the raiders..

I had it set up to where we were all going to play each other but my dumbass potna suggested that we don't. I shouldn't have listened to that idiot. You would've been in the NFC West with my cousin and brother and I was in the AFC West with my lil potna and his cousin.... and we wouldn've all played each other at least once (twice if we were in the same division).

I had to boot my potna's cousin because he quit on me when I was blowing him out 42-0 in the 2nd quarter.

I'll advance tonight, I gotta see if these other cats played their games.

At least you get to pad your stats against the computer.

We can do another draft, if you're down to do it, so that way we can all play each other. Let me know if you know of any folks and we'll do another one. My brother is deep, but he lost connection during the draft.

My bad y'all for going off subject, I just had to get at my homie.
