Cowher would get this organization rolling in the proper direction by teaching professionals how to acknowledge and respect their coaches. Should of kept Cable as he had this squad on his back and was finally able to overcome all of those losing seasons since 02 and go .500. But once again that is Al Davis making absurd moves i believe that football IQ of his has diminished drastically. Raiders need a GM or simply New Ownership
Cowher is NOTHING without a front office, and your front office is Al Davis. Al Davis + Bill Cowher = 2-14.

Wait - I thought Bill Cowher was the Front Office in Pitt?

Did he have a GM there?
Kevin Colbert is THE reason that we got our last two rings (aside from Dick LeBeau). When Cowher was coaching, he did well with Russ Grim on the O-Line and Whisenhunt as the offensive coordinator. Cowher couldn't develop a passing game if his life depended on it (see Kordell Stewart). We won a SB with Cowher and a SB with Tomlin. Both are great coaches, but Cowher did some questionable and simplistic shit. Our front office is where its at.

Front office is totally underrated. If you have someone like Colbert or Pioli or Newsome getting your talent, you can put Lane Kiffin in at head coach and win a SB.

Colbert came in in 2000 and his first round draft picks have been: Plaxico Burress, Casey Hampton, Kendall Simmons, Troy Polamalu, Ben Roethlisberger, Heath Miller, Santonio Holmes, Lawrence Timmons, Rashard Mendenhall, Ziggy Hood, and Maurkice Pouncey. Dude is a God.

I had no clue.

I always thought that Cowher was behind those drafts.

Why does everyone say that to get him as a HC he'd have to be GM too?

Because he has no clue what he's doing.

Whereas Davis, though he might do unpopular things, has a plan.

and he knows a thing or two about football too, unlike Jed York.
If you said this in 1986 I'd totally be on board. But there's a real steep curve when it comes to Alzheimers and I think Davis hit no man's land about 7 years ago.

Get off my nuts.

This latest move might be risky and unpopular.. Even I question it.

But the only way we're really going to know if it was the right move or not, is after the next season.

Kind of like the niners hiring some nobody named Trent Baalke as GM and some unproven college coach as HC.

We have no idea how that's going to work out.

But most of you niner fans think you're problems are already solved.

Figure it out.

Al Davis has been doing the right things lately, we'll have to see how it works out. Hue Jackson has more knowledge about the game of football than Cable does. Jackson has proved that he can run an offense. Our offense hasn't looked this good in years. Credit goes to Al Davis for hiring Jackson to run our offense.

Cable was a terrible play caller and couldn't run an offense. Yes, Russell was part of the problem but not all the blame should be put on Russell.
