Actually I would have said shit, because I still stand by my belief that any thread worthy of vital would saty first page anyways.

Go back into hiding? I am one of the few that posts here year round not only when a certain sport is on. considering I have 200 more posts than you in 3 less years and most of my 4000+ posts are right here in the sports forum!

RAVENS WILL TAG TERRELL
Posted by Mike Florio on February 17, 2009, 9:53 p.m.

With three linebackers poised to hit free agency, the Baltimore Ravens faced a trilemma regarding the use of the franchise tag.

They could use it on Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, or Bart Scott.

The choice, barring a long-term deal by Thursday at 4:00 p.m. EST, is Suggs.

“If we don’t have a deal, we will franchise him,” Ravens G.M. Ozzie Newsome told Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times. [Editor’s note: Hey, I know him.]

Using the tag on Suggs will cost $10.2 million under the 20069 salary cap — and necessarily will mean that, absent a long-term deal, Lewis and Scott and other free agents (such as safety Jim Leonhard) will hit the open market.

DENVER DUMPS DRE’
Posted by Mike Florio on February 17, 2009, 8:13 p.m.

After cutting six players on Monday, the Denver Broncos dumped a seventh guy on Tuesday.

Gone is cornerback Dre’ Bly, according to the team’s official web site.

Bly arrived via trade two years ago. He was due to earn a base salary of $3.25 million in 2009.

The move makes him an unrestricted free agent.

He spent his first four years with the Rams, then four with the Lions.

With more than $29 million in 2009 cap dollars tied up in two guys at the same position, the New England Patriots have commenced the process of clearing some cap space.

Gone, according to Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe, are receiver Kelley Washington and offensive lineman Billy Yates.

The moves cleared roughly $1.5 million in cap space.

Washington joined the team during the Great Receiver Roundup of 2007. In two seasons, he caught a grand total of one pass, for three yards.

As expected, the Arizona Cardinals have placed the franchise tag on linebacker Karlos Dansby, according to the Arizona Republic.

Because the Cardinals used the franchise tag a year ago on Dansby, the team is required to tender to him a one-year salary in the amount of 120 percent of his $8.065 million 2008 salary.

So he’ll be eligible to receive $9.678 million.

The amount will become guaranteed if/when Dansby accepts the tender. Until then, he’s not under contract.

Another guy not under contract is quarterback Kurt Warner. And the application of the tag to Dansby means that Warner will become an unrestricted free agent at midnight on February 27, unless he reaches a deal with the team before then.

Warner’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, is expected to meet at the upcoming Scouting Combine with Cardinals officials in an effort to work out a deal.

The bigger question, as we see it, is whether Bartelstein will be meeting with folks from any other teams.
