Update: Boldin said on Friday that he wants to leave Arizona unless he receives a favorable contract extension by Tuesday, according to the Arizona Republic.

This clarifies Boldin’s Thursday comments that he would be open to a contract extension with Arizona. This situation has become laughable; it’s as if Boldin and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, are specifically trying to needle the Cardinals whenever possible. Boldin is highly unlikely to receive a new contract by Tuesday; the Cardinals are deep in negotiations with quarterback Kurt Warner and linebacker Karlos Dansby and they are also busy with the annual scouting combine. The Cardinals don’t have to do anything with Boldin, because he is signed through 2010, but it is clear that he will make his unhappiness known at every turn.

ALAMEDA, CALIFORNIA (TICKER) —The Oakland Raiders released Gibril Wilson on Friday, one year after making him the third-highest paid safety in the NFL.

The Raiders just signed All-Pro cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to the richest contract for a defensive back in NFL history and likely need the salary cap room.

Asomugha signed a three-year, $45.3 million deal on Thursday - $28.5 million of which is guaranteed. Oakland also signed punter Shane Lechler to a big contract on Wednesday.

Wilson is owed a $4.5 million roster bonus.

Wilson, 27, signed a six-year, $39 million deal last offseason. It seems to be strictly a cost-cutting move, since Wilson is coming of a solid season. The fifth-year pro registered a career-high 134 tackles, two interceptions and 1 1/2 sacks in 16 games.

A fifth-round pick of the New York Giants in 2004, Wilson has 499 tackles, 13 interceptions and 7 1/2 sacks in 68 games with the Giants and Raiders.

The Raiders also released defensive end Kalimba Edwards and wide receiver Ronald Curry.

Edwards, a seven-year veteran, had five sacks in 14 games. He spent the previous seven years of his career with the Detroit Lions.

A seventh-round pick by Oakland in 2002, Curry caught 19 passes for 181 yards and a pair of scores in 13 games.

I'm saying Wilson didnt have a great season but he was our best SS why not try to trade him first I think they really should have just kept him. Raiders answer some Q's and them make some more.
