Who would you pick and why.....

I'm taking Oden, the footwork at his size is amazing, shot blocker, has a devloped left hand now after injuring his right wrist at Ohio St(which he claims is 100% now)

But Durant is gonna be raw too...

Oden cuz he's more rare. Durant can be another KG or Darius Miles or someone like that....Oden is special, plus he's from Indiana!!!

Durant is pretty smooth, no question....but(maybe im wrong), ive yet 2 see anything out of him that is game-changin....I mean, ol-boy cant even press 185lbs....I know basketball is about skill.....but 4real...I see him gettin pushed aside at the nexx level..on the real....unless he's got some Chris Bosh type of durability/wiry frame....I dont see him doin nothin....Oden is goin 2 be beasty....he might not put up incredible numbers or anything......but believe me, he's goin 2 change the game....Id say he's goin 2 be like Bill Walton, except he's WAY more athletic/savage and exciting....goin 2 the NW too, thats kinda eerie...if anybody ends up bein better then Oden in this draft it won't be Durant.....it will be one of the so called "sleepers" of the draft.....Durant will be like Mcgrady, if he's lucky.....and look how much of a winner he is

i used to think Oden hands down because a center is hard to come by...but the more i think about it, the more i would think maybe Durant is the pick.

If you pick Oden, defensively he's a plus, but offensively it means you need to run a lot of half court offense for him to be effective and nowadays in the nba who is really half court based (yes spurs are kinda half court orientated, but duncan is more mobile and a PF then oden who is a true center).

If youre looking to run an uptempo offense a la suns/warriors, would you get the most effectiveness out of Oden as you would Durant. I think this decision for the blazers is harder then people really think. I think they are stongly considering Durant even though i ultimately think they will pick Oden. Let's just hope this isn't sam bowie/michael jordan part 2.

Yeah and none of those teams won championships. Run and gun offenses are exciting to watch but their durability becomes an issue. Half court offenses are the way to go even though they aren't fun to watch. They are more effective. Gives the team time to set up a play and slow the game down as well as killing the clock. They have more control of the game. Oden gets my pick.

Lakers in the Shaq era = 3 titles
Pistons = 2 titles
Spurs - 4 titles

All half court teams.

Its all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

half court ball is not good for business - look at the TV ratings for this years final. I guarantee without looking it was one of the lowest of all time - i know i didn't even bother to watch it.

Greed will take over the true principles of basketball - everyone will start playing up tempo.

Greg Oden can run, in fact he ran almost step for step with Aaron Brooks(guard from Oregon) in the Orlando draft camp so I think he can run

i don't doubt he's mobile but in offensive terms, for him to be able to use his size and strength to its full ability, he needs to get the ball in a half court offense. His mobility is a big positive in terms of defense more then his offense.

Oden. Durant reminds me too much of Jonathan Bender in terms of style and body. Not saying he'll be anything like Bender, I'm just saying the kid reminds me of Bender.

A. He is a proven defensive monster, but to say he has to be in a half court system to be offensively effective is not true. His wrist was broken for damn near the whole season and still put up very solid point production. Plus his mobility and agility is unrivaled for a guy his size. He could be effective in any system.

B. Who runs half court offense in the NBA nowadays? Teams that win in the playoffs, primarily.

he could be effective in any system, but in a up tempo offense, he's not your #1 option.

See my other post about teams that win with half court offense - its gonna be phased out cause it won't make the league money.
