New Obie Trice Album - Mid 2005
He's Back With Murder City
Shady representatives say buckle your seatbelts and get ready for Obie Trice's sophomore LP, tentatively titled "Murder City", which is due for a mid-2005 release.
"He’s definitely going for a darker approach this time around, more true to his roots, more personal" said Chris Phillips, one of the many ‘behind the scenes’ producers working on the album. “Last album was introducing himself to the world, letting people know who he is, and his ways. Where as this album, really goes deep into himself, less about celebrations that he made it to the game, and more about his struggles before making it to the game”
Two possible first singles have been handed into Interscope. The title track, “Murder City” featuring and produced by Kon Artis of D12, and “He’s Baack”, the sequel to “The Well Known Asshole”, which uses the original beat from the underground hit
“He’s Back” the less profane of the two, begins with the egotistical line “I am infact, underrated, ‘cause saying unbelievable would be an understatement”
And in the very well done, “Murder City”, D12’s Kon Artis delivers a catchy hook, which is sure to get heads bobbing.
Other tracks on the album include the reminiscing “School Craft”, and the sure-to-impress song “Real Recognize Real” ft. Nate Dogg, where Obie takes shots at Benzino, and underground rapper Messy Marv.
Guest appearances are set to include Eminem, D12, Da Brigade, and underground westcoast rapper Smig Dertie.
Be sure to catch this album and many others from the Aftermath/Shady/G Unit family, coming over the course of 2004-2005.
I find this funny for two reasons...
1) I heard in some interview, someone asked him what he thought about messy's diss to him, he replied "who is messy merv".
2) I also heard a rumor that they were doing a song together, but i guess this squashes that.
I can't wait to hear this....
