I don't doubt that SF has a high or even highest gay pop. It's a major U.S. city that is very liberal and supports gays, that's why gay people from anywhere try and move to SF. But a lot of people act like SF is rampant with gays. They have their own area Market Street and Castro. I'm not trying to say that SF is a ghettoass city where fools will murk you on every street but it has it's ghettos and bad areas. Filmore, Hunters Point, Mission, Sunnydale, Portera Hill, Alemany, SoMa, Double Rock, The Tenderloin, and others. It also has very nice areas filled with richass white people. Bottom line is SF is very diverse.
The stereotype for San Francisco is a city filled with gay people, white people, and a bunch of shit rich people do. This is the stereotype San Francisco officials are trying to make because they're trying to put the city even higher in the economic ladder and bring SF more spotlight. That's why SF had that bidding shit for the Olympics and that's why SF is the number 1 tourist spot in the world.
I'm assuming Obie had the stereotypical SF image in his head and that's why he said what he did. Which I still think was stupid of him because they were showing him love and promoting his album. Also speaking of city stereotypes, I think Oakland has the stereotype of "filled with black people and you'll get killed easily" type of thing. Of course Oakland is lower on the economic ladder than SF but Oakland does have nice spots. For one I like Oaklands downtown a LOT better then SF's. Its a lot cleaner and just overall nicer. Plus Oaklands downtown doesn't smell like piss like SF's. I guess every city has it's ups and downs but city stereotypes sometimes cloud peoples judgements.
