I would shoot someone for coming at me with a knife too - but here's the difference: i'm not a pig.

the problem aint he was shot for coming at them with knives, the problem is what the fuck ever happened to disabling someone instead of every pig shooting till he's "fatally wounded" ??? is that how we're training pigs ???

If you're okay with that, somethings wrong with you.

so basically you're saying it's okay for a regular person to kill someone, but it's not okay for a cop to kill someone?

look... I don't think anyone should be killed when it's unjustifiable

Oscar Grant should not have been killed... there was absolutely no reason for it

in this case... it seems like it was possibly justifiable

maybe not... I don't know because I wasn't there... although I'm curious to know what it means when it says they weren't able to tase him

I think many times people in the general public are too quick to side with police officers, in any situation... no matter how how unjustifiable it may be... and that's wrong

at the same time...

I think on the siccness a lot of you guys are just the polar opposite... you're hatred for law enforcement disallows you to approach the situation from an objective point of view, thus siding with the "criminals" (for lack of a better word) in any situation, no matter how justifiable the actions may have been

I'm looking at this as an unbiased person, and basing my opinion on the facts in the article

The fact that it's said he "charged at an officer" gave oppertunity to subdue the assailant at all cost. I know a lot of people are saying "fuck the police for shooting him" but I would imagine if an unstable person is headed towards you with two knives you'd buck them down as well.

Absolutely. If you dont believe cops should be held to a higher standard than your average person, then we might as well just start hiring anyone that can remember police codes and throw them a uniform and a gun.

There's a reason why they go through countless training to get the job they have, because they need to be able to deal with those situations in different ways then your average person off the strip.

I'm not sure how anyone can't understand that.

This guy could of easily been subdued without killing him, and i'm not saying the guy didn't deserve to be shot because from what I know he did - the difference is why has it become okay for cops to unload on someone instead of wounding him with shots at his legs? Shouln't that be what's suppose to happen?

This guy had knives, not guns, there was no reason for him to be killed. We aren't talking about this guy took a shot in a leg and ended up bleeding out, this is a guy that was shot by multiple pigs from what I read. That's not okay.

The reason you see the opposite on here is because the people that speak on it I would guess have grown up seeing the corrupt shit that pigs do. The general public doesn't see that.

Most cops will protect cops and cover for them no matter what. That's why I have no problem blanket labeling them.

Yeah. That is the truth period. Police are put up on a pedestal like they are better than anyone else when they are just doing a job they choose to do. Punch a cop you are doing WAY more time than you would do for punching anyone other than a cop. Why because they are a cop. It should work the same way for them. They commit a crime they should get the max plus more because they are a "law enforcement officer" and should know better than anyone that what they doing is wrong. They get more rights automatically just for being a cop so they should get less rights automatically when they are crooked.

^^ by that logic its like punching your principal vs punching a student.. one will get you expelled the other will get you suspended.

Unfortunately Law is higher than civilians because they have guns and people have them enforce laws....

no matter the outcome no one is ever satisfied and never will be.. its just how it is... no one ever agrees on anything together someone will always oppose, aint that the beauty of this country?

Yeah but if the principal punches the student he gets way more than expelled. He gets fired and probably some jail time or at the least community service type shit and can never be a principal again because he is held at a higher standard than the student. Should be the same for cops.

lol, completely different situation

carrying weapons is part of a police officers job, and they're trained to use them when necessary

in no way shape or form should a principal ever be punching a student

what a dumb comparison

LETHAL FORCE SHOULD'VE BEEN THE LAST RESORT (LIKE MOST EVERYONE ELSE SAID). NEVERMIND THE FACT THAT THEY WERE COPS. ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND IS GONNA PROTECT THEMSELVES BY WHATEVER MEANS GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

COULD THEY HAVE TASED AND/OR PEPPER SPRAYED HIM? OF COURSE.
