Nolan Names Names
January 4th, 2008

Update: 06:59pm — Per Clayton, Martz has been contacted by the 49ers to interview for their offensive coordinator job. While no interview time has been set up, Martz is expected to meet with 49ers coach Mike Nolan next week. Nolan interviewed for Cowboys head coach Chan Gailey Friday. He’s also setting up interviews with former Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron and former Ravens head coach Brian Billick.

08:23am — During the press conference on Wednesday, Nolan was asked what names were on his list for the vacant offensive coordinator position. At the time he said he could not divulge that information, but on Thursday during a radio spot on KNBR, Nolan did name the names on his list. Drum roll please….the names on Nolan’s list, not that they are a surprise, are Mike Martz, Brian Billick, and Cam Cameron.

Martz being on the list shoots down an ESPN article where it said that management told Nolan no in regards to Martz. Which we knew that that article was full of crap, because Nolan and McCloughan have both said Nolan has the final say on his coaching staff.

Hopefully, one of these three will most likely get the job and if they don’t then the 49ers are most definitely screwed. Of course since this is Nolan we are talking about, it wouldn’t surprise me on bit.

FUCK CHAN GAILEY

^^^^^^^^^^exactly we ain't got the pieces for his passing attack. And look at what he did for the run game in Detroit.

I rest my case. Pursue Cam Cameron.

PS: If Nolan doesn't get any of these 3 and hires an inexperienced play caller, then he needs to get fired.

I've been questioning his calls and moves all year long.

theres Gore and mrob as the rbs
Theres VD and lelie as deep threats
Theres battle as a slot WR
The o line is decent
the real ? is @ QB.....
Apparently alex smith is better @ the vertical game and Shaun hill is a WCO guy

^^^^^the only problem is......all those WR's are tier 2 receivers. None of them are threatening to any defensive coordinator. I pray we can get a top notch WR in the off season or draft. And please do not mention Desean Jackson. He is not NFL material. Not even comparable to Steve Smith other than height.

I hope Malcolm Kelly falls to our spot, but I highly doubt it.

Or even Mario Manningham

VD IS NOT A DEEP THREAT. LELIE SUCKS.
BATTLE IS OK.
O LINE IS UNDER-ACHIEVING
ALEX SMITH IS TRASH.

^^^^^^^^Martz relies heavily on the passing game. What type of WR's do the niners have? Uhhh nobody.
Your right, but WR's are way overrated I.M.O. My point is any of the three is an improvement from what you guys had going on this season. I can see Gore still getting off on Draws and Counter Traps, can't you? I'm sure the Niners will pursue a descent guard "who can pull" on the off season. I just don't see Gore being successful with Isolations and Dives with the pieces you guys have right now.

Jackson is taller than Smith, but has nowhere near the bulk he has.

Anyway, I don't care who the 9ers hire for OC, just as long as they kill the one we had this year.
