49ers showing interest in Eddie Royal
http://www.49erswebzone.com/news/43104-49ers-showing-interest-eddie-royal/

Matt Barrows is reporting that the San Francisco 49ers are one of the teams showing interest in Denver free-agent wide receiver Eddie Royal.

Royal has already visited with the Washington Redskins and will fly to San Diego this week to meet with the Chargers. Should he walk away without a deal, he could head to the Bay Area for a visit.

Royal, who is 25, has had 206 catches for 2,107 yards and 9 touchdowns over his career. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech.

Manningham has Thursday visit scheduled with 49ers
http://www.csnbayarea.com/blog/nine...y-visit-scheduled-?blockID=669808&feedID=5936

Having already visited with free-agent receivers Chaz Schilens and Brandon Lloyd, the 49ers are scheduled to meet with Mario Manningham on Thursday, ProFootballTalk.com reports.

Manningham, who turns 27 in May, is a four-year veteran who caught 39 passes for 523 yards for the New York Giants last season. Manningham (6-foot, 185 pounds) started 12 of the 15 games in which he saw action. Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks were the Giants' top two receivers.

In the NFC championship game, Manningham had caught one pass for 17 yards against the 49ers. That one reception was a 17-yard touchdown, which came midway through the fourth quarter on a third-and-15 play.

Manningham caught six passes for 27 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown, in the regular-season matchup against the 49ers.

The 49ers have three receivers under contract for next season: Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss, Kyle Williams and Joe Hastings. Moss on Monday signed a one-year, $1.75 million contract with $750,000 available in game-by-game roster bonuses and $1.5 million in incentives.

A lot of people think Morgan is as good as gone, our ex coach Sullivan is going to persuade him to sign with Jacksonville. Time to let him walk, cut that bum williams, let ginn and Swain walk also. I say we do whatever it takes to bring in either v Jackson or m Wallace. That will be our #1, Crabtree #2, Eddie royal #3 then draft two rookie wrs.
and how did eddie royal come into this

I still think we should go after wallace.

#1Wallace
#2Crabtree
#3eddie royal/manningham whichever we can get
#4Randy Moss
#5-6 Rookie WR's

Have them compete! I know the wallace thing isnt going to happen but it would be nice.

Adam Caplan, Adam Schefter and Jason LaCanfora are reporting that the San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms with free-agent wide receiver Eddie Royal.
Adam Schefter replied by saying that Giants free-agent wide receiver Mario Manningham has "come and gone" when asked about his visit with the San Francisco 49ers today.

"No deal with SF today" says Schefter.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee notes the following on Twitter ( D @Damu Tha Great barrows):

Manningham's departure not an indication that the #49ers missed out, rather that they are taking their time just as they did last year.

Manningham will visit with the St. Louis Rams tonight.

San Francisco 49ers reportedly agree to terms with former Raiders special teams ace Rock Cartwright
http://www.mercurynews.com/49ers/ci_20181297/ted-ginn-jr-says-49ers-would-have-made

Special teams ace and locker-room mentor Rock Cartwright is apparently leaving the Raiders for the 49ers, having agreed to a one-year contract pending a physical, the NFL Network first reported Thursday.

In each of his past two seasons, Cartwright won the Raiders' Commitment to Excellence Award for his leadership and work ethic.

His on-field impact for the 49ers' likely will come on special teams, filling a void created Tuesday when Blake Costanzo left for the Chicago Bears. Cartwright also could be an option as a kickoff returner and a fullback. He had four carries for 45 yards last season, highlighted by a 35-yard run on a fake punt to secure a 25-20 win at Houston on Oct. 9.

The Washington Redskins selected Cartwright in the seventh round of the 2002 draft, when their national scout was current 49ers general manager Trent Baalke. Cartwright did not return a call Thursday seeking comment.

At Saturday's ceremony for his Commitment to Excellence Award, Cartwright told the Bay Area News Group said of his plans: "I love it here. I would like to spend the rest of my career here. How long is that, who knows?"

As for the 49ers' ongoing search to add wide receivers, former New York Giants star Mario Manningham visited Santa Clara on Thursday and then flew to meet with the St. Louis Rams, ESPN reported. The 49ers also have hosted two other free agent receivers, Brandon Lloyd and Chaz Schilens.

In a long expected move, the 49ers released veteran cornerback Shawntae Spencer, who made 72 starts in eight seasons but none last year. He was due to make $3.3 million in 2012.

Ted Ginn Jr.'s chances of re-signing with the 49ers look bleak as he told the Detroit Free-Press he wants to be utilized more as a wide receiver than a return specialist.

Asked how the 49ers might have fared if he played in the NFC Championship game, Ginn told the Free-Press: "We'd have been in the Super Bowl. I don't know if we'd have won, but we would have fought to win."

A knee injury kept Ginn out of the NFC Championship game overtime loss to the Giants, and Kyle Williams floundered as Ginn's replacement by botching two punt returns.

Ginn had 19 receptions for 220 yards with no touchdowns last season, when he made three starts and otherwise lined up as the No. 3 receiver or split time as the No. 2 receiver.

Henne made more sense to me than Flynn. and Manning wont happen but it was a nice thought.
Henne does make sense in a way, but Flynn hasn't signed YET....

Alex Smith agent made it clear that Alex Smith wants a 4-5 year deal worth $14 mill year...

the 49ers offered him a $8-9 three years..

Yea as much of an Alex Smith fan and defender of logic and justice I have been in real life and here on the siccness, I would be the first man in line to help Alex clean out his locker if he wasnt willing to be the backup at a reasonable price, I also think Kaep was a wasted pick
