One year deal not bad.

Glad the front office has turned the 49ers into a place were free agents choose to play at again. Moss basically told the saints to eat a dick and preferred to sign with the Alex Smith led 49ers. How things have changed

SANTA CLARA -- Free-agent receiver Randy Moss, 35, spent nearly a full day in the Bay Area with the 49ers before agreeing to a one-year contract, ESPN reported.

Moss returns to the NFL after retiring following a 2010 season in which he was released by New England and Minnesota before Tennessee claimed him off waivers.

Moss owns a career 15.6-yard average per catch. But he combined to catch just 28 passes for 393 yards and five touchdowns in 2010.

Moss joins a 49ers team that features Michael Crabtree, who led the team with 72 catches for 874 yards and four touchdowns. Crabtree, Kyle Williams and Joe Hastings are the only 49ers receivers under contract. Terms of Moss’ contract was not immediately known.

Joshua Morgan, who earlier Monday said he is fully healed from a season-ending broken leg, is scheduled to be a free agent at Tuesday, 1 p.m. Agent Joel Segal represents Moss and Morgan.

Moss arrived Sunday night in the Bay Area, spent the night and took a physical at Stanford on Monday morning. He arrived back at the 49ers' practice facility at 10:40 a.m.

After stretching and warming up, Moss ran most of the route tree during a 15-minute workout in which coach Jim Harbaugh threw passes. Offensive coordinator Greg Roman and receivers coach John Morton were among the coaches who viewed the workout.

The media were not allowed to watch the workout, but glimpses were caught from a public sidewalk through heavy equipment that was parked to obstruct view at the edge of the practice field.

After the workout, Moss joined the coaches inside the 49ers' team offices. Running back Anthony Dixon, who was on the practice field for part of the workout, said Moss looked good. He said he spoke to Moss for about 15 minutes afterward, talking about football.

Moss left the 49ers' team offices before 3 p.m. while the terms of his one-year contract were negotiated.

Prior to the workout, 49ers CEO Jed York said Harbaugh and general manager Trent Baalke would make all the personnel decisions.

"Jim and Trent want to see if he can play," York said. "We need to add somebody who can stretch the field and it's up to those guys to see if he's a fit."

So we sign a guy like Moss but he wont be able to get the ball because Alex Smith can't throw deep passes...

there's no plays that would leave him open so Alex Limited Playbook Smith can make the play...
