YALL THINK IF NATE DAVIS IMPRESSES ENOUGH THAT ALEX SMITH WILL PROBABLY BE CUT OR TRADED BY THE START OF THE SEASON? BECAUSE THEY COULD JUST HAVE HUARD AS THE BACKUP HE WOULD BE BETTER THEN SMITH, AND THEY COULD KEEP DAVIS AS THIRD STRING AND LET HIM DEVELOP, PLUS YOU NEVER KNOW IF ANOTHER TEAM WILL NEED A BACKUP QB BECAUSE OF INJURY SO YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET A 6TH ROUND PICK FOR HIM

i dont think they want davis to see the field at all this season. even if injuries happen. there aint no harm having smith on the bench. he can improve on the bench, get some more time recovered from the injury and practice and actually increase his trade value if there is any.

nate davis looks good tho. itll take some time with him but he does got a cannon.

Martz is NOT a good OC, Yeah, dude was genius in Detroit and then in SF, right? What a fuckin joke.
How was your offense doing before Martz was hired? Martz is not a good OC? He ran the Rams offense when they were scoring in the 40's....

Martz knows offense, you'll see what's going to happen to your offense once the season starts. You're going to be wondering what's wrong with the passing game....

"Hill Hurts His Back

No coach likes to talk about injuries, particularly a nagging one that's bothering the quarterback you just named the starter. That's what happened Wednesday, with Shaun Hill throwing just one pass in practice because of a lower back strain that Mike Singletary said was a day-to-day issue.
Hill injured the back in yesterday's practice and "pushed through" according to Singletary. Hill wanted to do the same today, but Singletary told him to take it easy.
Asked if he found it unsettling that Hill might not be available Saturday night for the penultimate preseason game in Dallas, Singletary said, "It's not unsettling at all, not one bit. We're going to go to Dallas and play football, we're not going to worry about who's ready to go and all those things. We should execute just fine."
Singletary seemed more annoyed by the situation than anything else. Backup Alex Smith has already been ruled out of the game because of a sprained thumb sustained while tackling Raiders linebacker Ricky Brown in last Saturday night's game.
Rookie Nate Davis took most of the snaps Wednesday and looked good, consistently finding tight end Vernon Davis.
Singletary said Hill wouldn't seek an MRI on his back, which he once injured near the end of the 2007 season when he took a shot in the area from a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. Hill sustained cracks in his traverse process as a result.
Damon Huard also took snaps Wednesday.

So it looks like Nate Davis will get a lot of playing time against the Cowboys.

about Hill hurting his back:

Despite suffering a strained back at Wednesday's practice, Shaun Hill hasn't been ruled out for the 49ers' third exhibition game.
Coach Mike Singletary characterized Hill's back as "sore," and said he's still "assuming" Hill will face Dallas. Alex Smith (hand) was formally ruled out.

AND

The 49ers' standing offer to unsigned first-round pick Michael Crabtree is worth roughly $20 million over five years with a max value of $26.5M.
$16M would be guaranteed. It's what the No. 10 overall pick should get. The proposal hasn't changed since June and there's no sign that the Niners will up the numbers. Crabtree's status for Week 1 is in obvious doubt.

Why do you even have your pom poms for this guy? Seriously? You completely missed the point about him being with the Rams. He inherited a team stocked with talent. A high school coach could have succeded with that team. His system DOES NOT WORK otherwise. He DOES NOT KNOW HOW to develop talent. That is NOT his arena. Norv Turner was the best OC we had in a few years. No one is going to miss Martz, outside of you. Most 9er fans I know miss having Turner calling the plays. Alex Smith`s best year was under Norv Turner. If Smith doesn`t injure his shoulder and Turner stays, this is a completely different team and convo right now.

Honestly, I think our current OC might fair well this year. Mike and Jimmy seem to have same philosophies about offense, so I`m interested to see how things transpire throughout the year. But we have to wait and see.

But please, put the Martz pom poms away. It`s not a good look.

Like E-40 said, "If it was a fifth we'll all be drunk".... Your smash mouth running game looks pretty good but your passing offense is currently ranked 32nd this pre-season. Dead last in the league just like it was before Martz was hired. Isn't that a cause for concern? I'll put the Martz "poms poms" down when the 49ers prove they can move the ball in the air without Martz calling the plays. Even though Vermeil was head coach, Mike Martz was calling the offensive plays when the Rams were the greatest show on turf. When Vermeil left, Mike still got them to the SuperBowl as head coach. Big, big mistake in letting Martz go. You'll see...
