his whole left portion of his arm is cut off...... nobody is going to paint someone's arm cut off like that.........I have never in my life seen someone paint an arm cut off....... that's only done when you do photo editing...... who the fuck gonna paint a cut off arm? seriously? I mean lets be realistic?
Well Q it aint a cutout...tha actual pic I used for reference doesnt even show his arms...actually in his reference pic he has hair and its braided and he's wearin a jacket. I gave him arms cuz I wanted him to look like he was actually posin for the portrait...and "cutting his arm" aint that bad of a thing from what teachers taught me LOL cuz I'm pretty sure from what I painted you can obviously tell its his left arm. I was always taught that if youre gonna cut someone when framing in 2D that anywhere inbetween from the neck to the waist is a good area. Off course if I was gonna sculpt him that would be bad LOL.

Its actually coo to think its just a filter cuz its basically a compliment. I feel my skills with using the wacom and being familiar with the program has really improved and is still improving.

This tutorial helped me alot:

My portraits are looking better and more "photo-real" because I changed up how I paint- I used to paint with bigger brushes on a smaller canvas(4x5) whereas now I got a macbook pro with more ram I paint on a larger canvas(16x20) with smaller strokes so I can add more detail. Same way if I were to actually use real paint and brushes which I can also do wit much skill - but with the digital medium I can paint as much as I want without having to worry bout makin a mess, buyin supplies and findin somewhere to stash the paintings...they all fit in my harddrive LOL
