what exactly does emo mean?? i keep hearing this shit to describe alot of music and don't understand where it came from. i heard its just short for "emotional"?

if youre making art of any kind, especially music, wouldnt it HAVE to be emotional to be good? itd be plain and monotonous otherwise...

Id rather hear Cage rap about his childhood and having to help his step dad shoot up heroin and how that fucked him up than 99% of the predictable gangsta rap garbage that comes out these days.

^^^ i dont think his entire album is about cars, money, and bitches, so yup, its nerd rap. and he even raps about his emotions sometimes, so hes a nerdy emo rapper too. but he has been to jail before, so hes not a complete square bear. ppl thatve been locked up are so tight

And I'm sure you'd also rather look at Renaissance Artwork and go to the Opera, than play Madden or watch a Shoot-em-Up Flick, but thats just you. Don't try and put that on everyone else or make them feel stupid for doing so.

If i wanted to hear about pain and suffering and other Emo shit, I'd go buy a book. Not listen to some crap-rapper who doesn't know how to write novels so he writes rhymes instead. Thats what poetry is for. Keep that shit off of CD media.

well i completely agree with krypticflows but i would actually rather play madden than go to the opera or look at rennaiscance artwork. you make it seem like it takes a full blown intellectual to listen to music that is actually saying something meaningful.

so i take it you hate listening to bob marley or dylan or anyone that makes any type of music that you could learn from. thats too bad. keep listening to your formulaic music about bitches, money, and killing, made by artists whose main concern is making money over good music
