There are different aspects for whatever you like. If you like underground hiphop you got a shyt load of underground hiphop rappers who rip shop and aren't aimin to make BIG scrill and make videos. If you like gangsta rap then you got a gang a that shyt too to choose from. You like mainstream radio pop/rap, you got that too along with those who have chose to rap for the ladies. You like that grimey dirty south shyt...you even got that.
RAP is so much more expanded these days and it is doin nothing but good. Shyt there were times when it was nothing but East Coast Hip Hop and West Coast Gangsta shyt bein played. Now you got cats reppin from all over and gettin love on and off the radio. Look at the South....they blew the fuck up with they sound and at first to alot of cats it was hard to adjust to, but eventually it grew on mufuckaz. The midwest is doin the damn thang now as well too. It's dope to see and hear all the new sounds coming from all parts of the nation.
Folks can't fault a mufucka for going mainstream....for alot of cats that's what they want & they truely could give a fuck whether some folks think they are keepin it real or not. Like someone said earlier.....nobody is forced to buy or listen to anybody's shyt...if it aint what ya dig, then dont knock it. There's plenty of options out there for all of us.

Please... these artists don't come original or talented, and while I think DMX and Ja Rule are deep enough into self delusion to falsely believe they are contributing to hip hop, Nelly is straight up cashing in his respect for platinum plaques and sold out arenas...

Problem is that when someone like Jadakiss comes out with a mediocre album, most applaud. Nelly comes out with a wack commercial effort and is acclaimed. Now y'all are praising Nelly again for coming out with meaningless, catchy dribble, and you wonder why nothing momentous in hip hop has been put on wax since 1996.
If it's wack, you don't have to buy it, and you don't have to accept it. You don't even have to respect Nelly for selling millions. Maybe if you stop arbitrarily throwing your respect and compliments behind wack artists, someone will put something real out.
