na I respect what he said, he didn't call out anyone in particular, but the main thing that he did say, and the main thing that you should take away from his entire post is that if your work is good, he DOES NOT have a problem paying someone. This is the music industry people, Kos is far from the biggest asshole you will have to deal with, if that statement by him pissed you off, you need to find a new line of work, you should take what he said, use that as a driving force and some encouragement to prove him wrong, prove to him that your work is worth payment, show him that it is up to par, and even if he does not choose your cover, it all goes back to the meaning of this post, you still have a real piece of work to show your clientel when they come to u and ask to see some samples

daGiftedOne, shit man 6 months was just a example, I got work I been sittin on for YEARS haha, please believe it, I got shit in here for days, you just gotta keep goin.

and believe it or not, to those that think they deserve to get paid, no matter how tight you think you are, DO THE WORK, because you can always use the experience to get better, THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT.

I've been doing covers for hella cheap like for cd's and I'm cool cause I know I'm building up a portfolio and I'm learning new things as I go and it becomes easier the more you do. Luckly I've been able to hook up with artist that I really respect and I feel that they are too underrated so I'm glad to help them out. But yes it will be nice once the money starts rolling in, cause if you produce quality work it is worth some money.

this is the first album cover I made it was kinda done quick I'm sure it could of been better. But it was a learning experience. I had no idea about bleed marks and what not. and am kinda dissapointed that I'm going to school for graphic design and my teach couldn't even really explain them to me. I think I understand them now. I had to make changes to the cover cause I didn't leave a bleed. But if I do a album cover I at least expect a copy of the cd

I feel alot of what´s been said here but not that u shouldn´t make those fake covers.

Experience is experience no matter wheter u scanned shit out of Source or Murder Dog and did someting.

But a whole lota folks tend to just take an artist photo and throw it over a city background whitout to much thought and work on iut, then it kinda defeats it´s purpose.

Hell, it´s kinda hard even working for free or peanuts, i know i offered free work on cd-covers for some exposure in the inside booklet and not alot came out of that. And i know it´s not because i suck, i can do shit (even if there is always room for improvement).

If i hadn´t been doing those fake covers i would kinda be on a Thug-C level or something, lol :D

As time passes i hope i can sort out those fake covers to real ones but i shure see nothing wrong in doing em.

If you were speaking to me nothing homeboy said pissed me off. And Im not in that line of work G. If you post with a title "Need artwork for my mixtape" you are in a sense asking for a service or help of the artists who read that thread and then in your next post you come out say 90% of the artists you just asked for help are eliminated and called garbage ass niggaz is not constructive criticism. Well either way I dont give a fuck. But if Im doin something wrong and someone was to tell me a check this way out its faster and they were right Id be like thanks good lookin out. But in another example if that person said what the fuck is wrong with you idiot cant you do anything right watch me if it was a boss at a job Id be fired and arrested. Maybe its just me but I respond better when not being clowned or put down.

when i first started, i was making fake covers for family members, friends, anyone i could take a picture of, i made them a cover...lol...my mom even got a cover done !!! hahahah........soon i was stealing photo's from shemp from his real photo shoots to practice with.
just keep doing what you do, i just never posted anything on here of my "fake" covers cuz i knew i was just starting out, plus i would always get shemp's opinions, and just kept going off that. actually i did get my first real cover off a fake cover.........so anything possible.........i have done work with kos, and he's a real dude......i know he'll pay for something, and he's good for it...........keep it moving ya'll...

na Str8sick it wasn't necessarily directed at u, it was directed at anybody who took offense to it.

like Evan said, we have all done fake covers, u just don't come in the game with clientel, that's not gonna happen, so everybody has done fake covers, and also, EVERYBODY HAS DONE WORK FOR FREE, YOU HAVE TO BUILD A NAME AND A REP and a PORTFOLIO

BGN79 I liked your whole statement, it was exactly right, doing work for cheap, or for free to get going in the game, knowing that you have talent, but being willing to always improve and learn at the same time, i know exactly how u feel, when I started I had no fuckin idea what a bleed was, that was all learned with time and help of some good folks who looked out for me until i was able to learn enough and branch off into my own style and work

every body just keep workin

It's all about show and tell, you gotta prove what you got is better than the next man before you start stickin out your hand like someone owes you somethin. Like alot of these other folks I've done a shit load of free work in the past, but the experience and exposure I've gained from that is paying off now.

me for once i will keep on doing fakes and showcase em for peopole to leave their opinions....

And the offer i made a while back ago about free covers for exposure still stands. However only for covers and only if i get some exposure.....

Shit, this thread has kinda made me more open to makin a few covers for free, even though i was before.
