According to executives with two teams, the Knicks are discussing a swap of first-round picks with Portland. The Knicks would send the No. 6 pick, forward David Lee and another player to the Trail Blazers for the 13th and 27th picks and a player, possibly Steve Blake or Jarrett Jack. (Portland is acquiring the 27th pick from New Orleans.)

New York Post said:
Charlotte appears to be closing in on a trade with Memphis involving pick 5, with their potential target being either Kevin Love or Russell Westbrook, the New York Post is reporting.
Its the NY Post, so take it for what its worth.

A source familiar with the situation said Wednesday night that the Heat already has received overtures from the Raptors, Pacers, Clippers and several other teams regarding Shawn Marion, who is seeking the type of lucrative extension Heat President Pat Riley appears reluctant to consider. Marion became eligible to be traded only after he allowed Tuesday's 6 p.m. opt-out deadline to pass. The timing puts him in play for a draft-night trade. South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Another rumor has Miami sending the No. 2 and Shawn Marion to the Los Angeles Clippers for No. 7 and Elton Brand. Such a deal would break the Bulls' hearts, since Brand qualifies as their dream acquisition this summer. Arlington Heights Daily Herald

On Wednesday, for example, owner Michael Heisley was genuinely stunned to hear about a report that the Grizzlies have talked to the Knicks about sending their No. 5 pick and Brian Cardinal to the New York Knicks for David Lee. "I've never heard of that trade," said Heisley, who appeared to be telling the truth. That's good news, at some level. The trade would be an abject disaster. But if Heisley wasn't the man behind the deal -- and believe me, it was a real deal -- who was? Answer: Wallace, who is supposed to be the smart, intuitive basketball guy in the bunch. Sonics officials believed they would have a choice of Arizona guard Jerryd Bayless, USC guard O.J. Mayo or UCLA power forward Kevin Love. That still may be the case, but Miami is considering taking Bayless or Mayo. Or the Heat could select Beasley at No. 2 and deal him to a team lower in the draft order for their preferred guard. The first scenario would leave Beasley tantalizingly close to the Sonics' No. 4 pick. Sonics general manager Sam Presti said Tuesday the team is likely to stand pat unless it is offered an irresistible deal. The opportunity to nab Beasley, a potential franchise player and close friend of Durant, would classify as irresistible. Seattle Post-Intelligencer

Corey Maggette: He still plans to opt out of the final season of his contract Monday. Maggette, who is owed $7 million if he chooses not to become a free agent, has said his desire is to return under a long-term contract with the Clippers. LA Times

Shaun Livingston: After a devastating knee injury sidelined him for nearly a year and a half, Livingston has been cleared to play one-on-one under monitored conditions. However, he is still unable to play full court with contact and there are concerns from the organization on whether he is healed enough to withstand the rigors of an NBA season. The Clippers will bypass giving Livingston a $5.8-million qualifying offer due July 1, making him an unrestricted free agent. LA Times

One player the Lakers probably won't be acquiring is Sacramento forward Ron Artest, who holds a one-year player option for $7.4 million, but Artest has said he would opt out only if he could make more money as a free agent. The most the Lakers could offer would be the mid-level exception of about $6 million a year for up to five years. LA Times

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Donnie Walsh's eyes grew wide when talk of Thursday's NBA Draft moved to talk of some of the surprising veteran names that have been mentioned in trade conversations.

"I'm not going to say who it is, but I heard it today, I was like, 'No, there's no way'," Walsh said. When his scouts confirmed the star player in mention was being offered around, Walsh replied, "You're kidding me."

Well the Celtics showed other teams that, yes, a championship team can be built if you get the right players all at once.

Walsh acknowledged that he's been in on a lot of conversations but nothing that was imminent. The Knicks haven't hid the intention to find a point guard to replace Stephon Marbury, but have not been involved in talks with Toronto regarding Ford. But trade talk will only heat up after the draft in July

this motherfucker publishes the article TODAY, for some reason thinks T.J. Ford is still available, and is saying the draft will take place in July.

fucking terrible Journalism. God damn I hate pieces of shit like this who get jobs writing for a paper after 4 years of schooling, when I can't even get an interview because I don't have a specific journalism degree.
