Don't forget... to get certified gold or platinum you only have to SHIP out 500,000 and 1,000,000 copies respectively. The RIAA counts the number of albums sold...which means the number of albums sold to the STORES not to the PUBLIC. There have been plenty of albums that have SHIPPED GOLD but have sank sales wise. (good thing they don't count returns otherwise you'd see a lot of gold plaques revoked!)

Also lets put it in perspective...if we used other countries meaures of gold and platinum status:

40 would have gone PLATINUM in these countires:

There ya'll go again with the low expectations.. Niggas ain't did no numbers like that coz we were local, Bay Area only, and 40 still managed to sell 41K the first week on his last album.. Now he has a mainstream video, constant shows, commercials, posters, ads, a major label behind him, a movement behind him, and a hit single but still can't do 100,000. Please. You can't compare, everything before that was underground so you'd expect a mainstream album to do much better. Imo it should of sold twice as much, this is a flop, no matter if ya'll wanna admit it or not. This is a mainstream album, and the West Coast not sellin that much since Game or Snoop just tells you how bad the West has been doin the past 10 years.

it is. it was sold out in like 5-6 stores that I went to just on the peninsula and there were many mentions of stores out of the area that were sold out too. simply put, it only sold 27000 copies in the bay because there were only 27000 copies to be bought in the bay PERIOD
