I'm not worried because of Lil Jon, all of his albums and his BME albums have had legs, meaning they stay on the charts or climb them over time because of the quality of the ALBUM and they have more than just that 1st single. I think the T-Pain single is gonna explode.

Hell naw, that ain't big at all! You Bay Area niggas got low expectations. I'm extremely dissapointed. They promoted the hell out of this album/movement and no one bought into the gimmick. 93,000 is a flop! 40 ain't Independent no more, Yayo and Fat Joe did better numbers than that. This is actually bad for a mainstream album. btw, where is your source??
On the real, he's right. Thats not good for Industry standards. Mary J did 700,000 her first week, The game did 1.4 mill.

LMAO.....one for mentionin MARY J, the QUEEN of Hip Hop...then mentionin Game, who had a whole year of hype, and a whole coast's support, along with many G-Unit fans and mixtape hype....and three for sayin he did 1.4 mil when he did 600,000 the first week.

Personally....I was expectin 150-200 K, but 100 is definitely not bad by INDUSTRY standards....and not SUPERSTAR standards. If he was part of G-Unit or Aftermath, or was a superstar at the level of Em, Jay, Dre, Snoop, 50 Cent, etc etc (we are sayin superstar overall in the game who always sells a lot), then yeah this would be dissapointing. But people nowadays get too caught up in first week sales, as if it's the only week that counts. Companies are much more concerned about the longevity of an album on the charts.

And think of it this way...sales aside, he debuted at #3 on the charts overall. Even Dre 2001 NEVER reached #1 on Billboard, and it debuted at #2.

also keep inmind that record shops in a sense fucked 40 by not stocking enough product. Many people were turned down as it was sold out in alot of places. Hopefully those people returned and picked it up....Good shit!!

This is good, not great, but good. Think about it no BET love (until last week) and in reality "Tell Me When To Go" is not a huge single. It's slowly climbing up the charts. I think the lil scrappy/Trillville album only sold like 80k the first week then when "No Problems" and "Some Cut" was released it went plat. This is a good formula at least he wont sell 200k the first week and have a horrible decline the second like many artist (Neyo, Juve, Weezy, Yayo etc,).

Yup. Talked to some dudes this weekend and asked if they had gotten the CD yet and they said they were waiting for it to get re-stocked. They thought they needed to wait until Tuesday, had no clue some places had it back on the shelves thurs. Running out of stock did hurt the numbers big time.

Are people expecting 40 to hit a mill in his first week!? Look at other soundscan artists like Ying Yang twins, those bastards havn't hit 300k yet and their album has been out for months and have had like 4 singles.

yall need to relax and marinate, because this was only one weeks sells. it can increase next week or go down. you dont know. the first week isnt an indicator on where the album going to finish. i mean keyshia cole didnt do that hot on her first week and she platinum now. there people that sell 300k and next week only sell 90k and continue to decrease. so give it time

Don't forget... to get certified gold or platinum you only have to SHIP out 500,000 and 1,000,000 copies respectively. The RIAA counts the number of albums sold...which means the number of albums sold to the STORES not to the PUBLIC. There have been plenty of albums that have SHIPPED GOLD but have sank sales wise. (good thing they don't count returns otherwise you'd see a lot of gold plaques revoked!)

Also lets put it in perspective...if we used other countries meaures of gold and platinum status:

40 would have gone PLATINUM in these countires:

Argentina
Austria
Australia
Denmark
Greece
Hungary
India
Ireland
Malaysia
New Zealand
Norway
Spain
Switzerland

and GOLD in these countries:

Brazil
Canada
Indonesia
Mexico
Philippines
Ukraine

However this is the most press I have seen about Bay Rap in a long long time. It feels good to be out here right now ya knaw mean?

93k is good, and yet is bad. We are not supporting our artists the way we should. Part of it is low expectations. How is we support Juve, TI, DemFranchise boys and yet Balance, Frontline, 40 aint number one on the Kmel drop at 7pm? wtf?
