If you like this kind of music (love songs, bein' about a girl) then you might like this album. It's either Jay Tee fell in love or he's trying to get a single on the radio cuz I skimmed through the album one time and couldn't really finish any of the tracks because of it. Yes, it's different from the normal blingin' bangin', shoot 'em up, sellin' drugs type of shit...but I just can't get into it.

The production was pretty clean, but the content of it I just can't feel.

Yuh, Jay Tee always comes solid on his albums. He did come a little different on this one but It's still solid. I got "Sexy Flame" on repeat like a muthafuckah.

Well...if you remember, in 2003, B-12 (or maybe LMD, I forget) started a thread here announcing that Jay Tee had signed a deal w/ Universal and that he'd have something out soon on that label. Towards the end of last year, Jay Tee had a post on the BART board where he said that the Universal deal "didn't work out."

About two months ago, on the 40 Ounce board, when Jay Tee announced the release of this CD, he said that THE THOUSANDAIRE is the CD that he was planning to put out on Universal last year had their deal worked out. It didn't, but he decided to put it out on his own. I don't know, but I would imagine that Universal was probably trying to get him to move in that more commercial direction, so that could be why it sounds like it does. The majors basically want nothing to do w/ you unless you're rapping for the ladies or making them dance (which is good OR bad, depending on your taste). Personally, I like his harder stuff better, but this one's dope when you're in a chilled-out mood, so it's cool...Jay Tee himself often says that he likes to come w/ something a little different on each CD...

PEACE!

Well put sav-man. That's exactly what this album is, the tracks that were supposed to be on the Universal release.

Let me add my 2 cents here...I think most people will agree they like the harder Jay Tee, I do also. But take the album for what it is. Jay Tee isn't proclaiming this to be his "hardest" album, so don't expect that. Its a well produced, well thought out album that has the potential to attract a different market that Jay Tee usually appeals to while still leaving something for his long time fans.

When Jay Tee performed in Petaluma about 2 years ago, I saw 14, 15 year old kids signing along to "Baby Girl". As soon as "Baby Girl" was done and Jay Tee did other N2DEEP tracks and Latino Velvet tracks, those same kids knew the words to those songs also. My point is, people hear a song they might like that isn't as "hard" and will check out what the artist has done otherwise. Those kids started off liking Jay Tee for "Baby Girl", but now they are probably N2DEEP fans as well. Its just more exposure, and thats the name of the game.

People have to evolve, artists can't make the same music as 10 years ago because the music buyers now do not want to hear that same sound. Taking risks and trying new things is how you succeed.

The production and hook singers are better then any shit put out this year by a bay artist. Just because your a gangsta rapper dosent mean you have to have shitty simple beats along with a bad mix job.

Your favorite rapper may ACT harder on the mic but they need to listin to this cd, producers rappers and everyone else check out this cd and see how its done.

If you dont like love songs or laid back shit thats fine, but the bay and cali in general needs to step up there game.

Actin hard is for the birds. Kids need to grow up. Payin bills and raising children is harder than all that punk shit. JayTee is a Bay Area Veteran and he strives to bring better music to all, not just the insecure ones who have to hear a hard song to think that an artist is hard. Remember, this is a BUSINESS kids. You might not agree with me, but I really don't give a fuck, seriously, I don't. Life goes on........Much success to you JayTee and anyone else tryin to get it. Peace y'all. RX/FYADept./$WR
