49ers need to win out the rest of the season and they would get the No. 2 seed. Get past the Steelers and the schedule turns in their favor. if the Saints win out they are not assured of a playoff bye because the niners owns the tiebreaker.

Source: Staley cleared to play
Left tackle Joe Staley received full clearance and is expected to play in the 49ers' game Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source told CSNBayArea.com late Sunday.
Staley sustained a concussion last week in the first quarter of the 49ers' 21-19 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Staley appeared to be injured on the 49ers' first offensive play of the game when his head collided with the knee of defensive end Calais Campbell on an attempted cut block.

He exited the game seven plays later after hitting helmets with outside linebacker Clark Haggans.

The NFL's protocol on concussions requires that a player must be cleared to return by both his team physician and an independent neurological consultant.

Staley participated in limited practice Saturday, at which time 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said he was "progressing well."

Alex Boone, who played last week in Staley's place, practiced with the starters at left tackle on Thursday and Friday. Staley is expected to return to the starting lineup Monday.

Linebacker Patrick Willis, who has not practiced since sustaining a right hamstring strain Dec. 4 against the St. Louis Rams, is not expected to be available for Monday's game.

Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is expected to start after showing enough progress in practice Saturday. Roethlisberger is listed as questionable with a high left ankle sprain.

Ben Roethlisberger (ankle) is expected to start Monday's game against the 49ers, according to beat writer Gerry Dulac.
The decision was reportedly made after Saturday's practice. "He's good enough to go," a source tells Dulac. This jibes with earlier reports from ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Profootballtalk's Mike Florio. At this point, it would be a surprise if Roethlisberger wasn't under center Monday night.

I'm voting niners, but I could see this going either way. We need this win otherwise I doubt we go far in the playoffs, the fuckin offensive needs to step up, protect smith. smith needs to hit the fuckin WRs and they need to catch the god damn ball. and I want to see ben leave the fuckin field in a casket. im in second round of playoffs in FF and I need SF DEF and Navarro coming up big, im down 25 points and the guy im up against only has the Steelers DEF left.

why does it seem like ben rapelithsberger is ALWAYS somehow injured
its always something with his hands or his feet.

and it never impacts the game at all. i think they just put that shit out there to fuck wtih the other team

Niners lose by anal sex. That means close game. I really need 19 points from Mike Wallace or I'm out of the playoffs by the way. It's a 2 point ppr league so if he doesn't get it I'll punch myself in the dick.

all i know is the niners really dont want to see the seahawks next week on christmas eve lol

about to get blown out

the seahacks only real weapon is Marshawn Lynch, and come next week he'll be going against the best Rush Defense in the NFL. I like our chances. Anyways, first the steelers then we'll talk about next week. Nineeeeers!

ill just say that the niners arent who they were in the beginning of the season, and the seahawks arent either.
the difference is the seahawks are the ones who are clicking now, and i still truly believe that the seahawks coulda took the niners earlier this year if it werent for Ginn making history with some never before done shit

anyway, i really hope the niners smash on the stealers today. that'll be wack if the niners get fucked up, id rather see the niners vs seahawks on christmas eve with both teams coming off of big wins
