I hope PO can get a team, that'd be really cool to have 2 teams in the Northwest and add to the general notoriety of the region.

I don't think it will happen, politics in Oregon simply far too liberal, all them hippy folks will not be down with paying for a stadium. Cities just got to nut the fuck up and pay for it, I don't think PO can do it.

We already have a finished finance plan...its all up to an owner who wants a team in Portland...the seattle/portland rivalry would be great to see

That's great to hear I wasn't aware of that. I will be pulling for them to get a team.

That would be real tight if Portland got a team....I'm supportin it....However, the Protland market probalbly doesn't have the financial/economic magnitude to support an MLB team . The bottom line is dollars and the MLB is a business. Why move a team to Portland, when you can move it to New Jersey or even Las Vegas...bigger markets.

I personally feel that the Mariners are making a huge mistake not calling the Mariners the "Northwest Mariners", instead of the Seattle Mariners. It would instantly expand their market and support, which makes a team profitable. I think they should play a few games in Portland a year and even campaign a little in Spokane, maybe move the team in Tacoma out to Spokane. The more support you have, the more shirts and tickets you are going to sell, the more money they are going to make. It's all about dollars, the rest is conversation....

I want to see Portland get a team tho, if not I want to see the Mariners get renamed.....the same theory applies for the seahawks....

they actually have a website for the lobbyists in Portland who want to see the MLB come to PDX...I'll get back at cha with that....

Northwest Sports Team names WTF. Supersonics? (Speed of A plane, I guess) Mariner (For the water maybe) Seahawk (???) (Blazers?) I used to know what all of them meant, but now they just sound corny to me, I mean other cities can say Eagles (A eagle) Bulls (A Bull) Cowboys (A cowboy), I guess I'm just thinkin too hard. But yeah, if Portland got the Marlins it would mean another team with a dumb name, (If you didn't know, you can't catch a marlin in portland) I think changing the name would be the first thing to do.

I'd rather see an NFL team but anything to bring more exposure to the NW is all good... but this shyt was interesting...

"Portland continues to show strong major league interest, despite losing out on the Expos, as evidenced by television ratings from Game Four of the World Series between the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros.

Of the markets not in Texas or Chicago, Portland ranked fourth in the nation with a 14.8 rating, behind St. Louis (22.9), Minneapolis-St. Paul (15.5) and Phoenix (15.0). "
