I think the misconception of Mistah F.A.B. is kind of his fault. His real fans know what he's done and what he's about. Son Of A Pimp is probably one the best well-rounded albums that I heard for an artist up and coming, definitely classic material in there. If "If" was a Fifth was probably my favorite track. And anyone who knew about his work before hand knows he isnt all about making up words and talkin out his ass, he got a lot of real political and relevant shit.

But coming from a fan, I think his work since Son Of A Pimp has been real one-dimensional. Not a lot of depth to a lot of his work, mostly go-dumb bangers that get old within a week and so many features I don't even want to listen to it no more. And it's not his new fans' fault that they preconceive him this way, it's because he presents himself this way. Regardless, I will pick up Yellow Bus Ryda when it comes out because I do believe he has good music and hope that it's as good as his last album, but lately his music is kind of all the same, go dumb this and go dumb that.

Just my opinion.

Fabby is good..
I acutally slept on Son Of a Pimp for a while....I got it like 2nd day it came out, listened to it for a minute and put it away.

After awhile I brought it back out of my CD case and been bumpin' for a long time now.

I think you present some very valid points. I'll be interested to see if Yellow Bus Rydah exemplifies all of his different styles, or if it is going to be exclusively slappers.

Big words do not equal a more powerful argument, that is a typical college student response. Enter the real world (business, capitalism) where if you want your point and argument to come across the being direct and concise is the most important aspect. Only use these esoteric words when it's absolutely necessary. There's also the point that using these words when they are barely needed makes you look condescending.

Can you spot the irony in this post?
You have some solid points. If I had the time or mental energy, I would make a case against your argument...but I don't. I am clearly not trying to patronize any individual, and if I come across as condescending, I'm sorry. I think it is somewhat ridiculous that people complain about the usage of complex/descriptive words in an ONLINE forum. If one does not know the significance of a word, then they can take 25 seconds out of his/her stressful life and go to www.dictionary.com.

I agree with everything that you just said, but why in the fuck are you using those big ass academic words in a Hip Hop forum? Some of us do belong in the category of the layman and a lot of people on here are no older than 14. Instead of using phrases like, "the preponderance of the users on Siccness" why couldn't you just say the Majority of the users on Siccness? I don't know if you are trying to feign intellectualism or that infact you are a real nerd. But I do agree, F.A.B is the most talented Bay Area artist out right now, and on the contrary most people on Siccness like F.A.B, it's just that, that Shaboobalabooby shit is silly as fuck, but it shouldn't hold so much weight when critiquing his work..
damn, i thought u just hated on me and cognito, but it turns out that you even hate on people for using the english language correctly. i dont feel so bad any more....

As much as I like U R My Angel, I'm still not a Fabby fan.

The people will mainly know Fabby for what image he creates for himself. The image he creates for himself is a nigga who rides a yellow bus, wears a helmet, and says shit like "Shaboobaloopy." Therefore, people with any respect for intelligence will see this constant display of ignorance and Fabby's admiration of mental disabilities, and write him off as a dumb nigga. If Fabby wants people to respect him for his lyricism, start lettin people know more about it, and stop wearing helmets.

nicely put. For me- if I aint liking what I do hear- I'm not gonna buy the album to see if the rapper has any "deeper material". If u put out crap like Shaboobaloopy that is the image that u are portraying..so from the stuff I heard so far I just not seeing the "lyrical content" u expressing at this time

Another F.A.B. Interview

This week, the Yellow Bus made a stop in Los Angeles, and West Coast Rydaz took the oppportunity to catch up with Oakland's own Mistah F.A.B. for an exclusive video interview. F.A.B. made his way out to LA to work on his new mixtape with Dow Jones, titled Recess. He took some time out to talk to us about his upcoming album, The Yellow Bus Rydah, and the entire bay area movement which he is a major part of. He also speaks on the whole yellow bus movement he helped create, the popularity of the bay in other regions, networking with other artists, and much more. As an added bonus, F.A.B. spit an exclusive freestyle for West Coast Rydaz.

I think that the preponderance of the users on Siccness have a misconception of Mistah F.A.B.'s lyrical aptitude. His regular use of somewhat asinine catchphrases, such as "shaboobalaboopie," definitely contribute to the tainting of his repute, and moreover, is probably the reason why 95% of Fabby Davis haters dislike him. However, for all of you that disparage F.A.B.'s musical ability, I want to recommend that you take the time and listen/buy "Son of a Pimp." Not only does this CD have classic slumpers, such as N.E.W. Oakland and Kicked Out The Club, but it has some of the hardest and deepest tracks that I have heard come out of the Bay since 2Pac passed (i.e. The Mama Song, If Papa Was Home, U R My Angel, etc.). Once you listen to his CD and move past your preconceived notion that F.A.B. is a garbage rapper who tries to popularize himself solely by using made-up words, you will realize his true skill. F.A.B. is the realist spitter in the Bay. More than Quinn. More than Clyde. More than anyone.
i love it. thats one of the funniest things to read someone speak with such articulate eloquence to describe mistah fab's music. thats like when martin lawrence was on inside the actors studio and james lipton sarcastically was describing "big mommas house" as some epic piece of cinematic art. its not the vocab, but what youre using it for that has me dieing over here

You are the exact type of person that I was directing this thread toward. Radio stations, especially local radio stations, such as KMEL/94.9, are not going to play his "'deeper material.'" They are going to play what their frequent listeners tune in for, and in the Bay Area, that would be Hyphy music. Before you pass judgement on Fabby, look past his "mainstream" material.

@B-Town On Mines...It's funny that you are using such an effusive profusion of academic language in a forum based on colloquial text based elocation. However their is a dichotomy between your theories as I am sure that a person with your ability in the realm of explication should understand. I see myself as a perspicacious judge of musical charactor and basically--as an artist promotes himself, that is how he shall be judged.

LOL...My point is that this isn't an online SAT Prep Course. Just say you think FAB is deeper than the radio songs that he puts out. Just because one talks smart doesn't make that persons point any more valid.
