I applied 4 times and them fuckers denied me because of my felonies....

and then a few months after 9/11..they asked me to join and they said they didn't care about my felonies...

and that's when i told them "thanks, but not thanks, I'm not your puppet"...

I was in the Navy for 6 years, everytime shit gets tough i try to go back then shit comes together and I'm like fuck it lol. I might try to go reserves and get my degree and try to come back in as an officer, i'm not trying to be a 30 something early stage enlisted guy because they will try to take a stripe from me for being out 4 so long. I'd have to quit smoking weed which would be a bummer plus when you are on deployment you are basically a government slave, the shit can suck real bad at times but the pay and benifits are awsome if you are in the right spot married w children.

for the haters though, i'd say don't knock it if you arent doing shit with your life. Might be the best thing you can do for yourself if you dont listen to the bullshit and the stereotypes.

OK well I was active duty Air Force for 5 years and I have been in the reserves for over a year and I have until June 2010 until I get out.

My take on it is well I personally hated it, matter of fact I still do. I think it's either for you or not. I can't stand having people tell me what to do and be assholes about it and I can't do anything about it but shut up and take it. I can't count how many times I felt like flipping on someone for the way they were acting.

Not everyone is an asshole but all it takes is a few. Remember those scared little bitch kids in high school, well guess what now there in charge and it seems like most of them are taking out what must have happened to them in high school.

It has its benefits but the bad over weighs the good by far. Maybe it's my pride but I had a ton of trouble putting up with there way of doing things and me not having a say in it at all.

I know this post is long but here’s a little story of what they can do. Ok so I have two kids and they were in daycare. You don't make a great deal of money so I lived pretty much pay check to pay check. So in my career field (aircraft maintenance) they were short handed, so they put us on 4 12 hour shifts, not so bad sounding huh? Well here’s the problem for my kids to stay in daycare longer I would have to leave work pick them up and take them to another daycare and pay $40 for 2 hours for 2 kids. That is $40 a day times 4 days = 120 a week = 480 a month, oh and by the way no overtime pay in the military. So now I was expected to work more hours for less money, I didn’t even have that much extra a month. So I go to my section chief (the main manager in charge I guess you would say) and I bring them a copy of my budget showing them that I can't afford this. At the end of that conversation they pretty much tell me, well I have to be at work. So great, that’s when I said fuck this and started to completely not care anymore I did what I wanted, disrespected who I wanted until I joined the reserves to leave active duty early.

So all in all everyone’s situation is different but mine sucked and that’s why I usually try to make people understand the bad side. Some people do great and love it but not me. I don't ever want to be in a situation where "my job" has to by law come before everything including my family.

Just my opinion though.

You speak the truth....REAL SHIT!

I always felt that it is what you make it, and I made it out to be a lot of bullshit(not fully).

I cant tell you how many people that I knew that came in for the scholarship money thinkin that they were gonna get to go to school while serving. I seen a lot of people get laughed at for stating those reasons.

The "UNIT" came first before ANYTHING.

They need to put THAT in the commercials!

my brother is a co out here at donovan. he is your age making nice bread. He just got transferred though, got caught up this economic bullshit....why dont you go out for customs or bp if youre looking for govt?
If I'm going to do Corrections like your brother, it'll probably be at CCA (http://www.correctionscorp.com/). It's a private organization and they fuck with Federal problems. It's out there by Donovan/Bailey. They pay hella good to start out, like $28hr. My homie's brother works there and hes got a very nice steady income off of it, like 60K. He saids there suppose to be expanding it too sometime later this year or beginning of next year. I might jump on it. There's just no real good jobs out there, Gov't law enforcement type shit seems to be the only real way to have a decent future this day in age. Customs, ICE, border patrol is an option I'm considering as well. I want to stay here in San Diego though, fuck getting transferred to another state.

Your doing Border Patrol? My Spanish ain't that great. :ermm:

I enlisted in the army last July. I'm a freshman in college and I'm gonna be in the army reserve as a psychological operations specialist. I leave to basic training at Fort Jackson, SC on June 17. I split my training so that I do it all during the summers when I'm not in school. During my junior year of college I'm gonna enter the Simultaneous Membership Program which enrolls me in ROTC and I'm gonna graduate as an officer. I've gone to my unit here in SD and they pay me as an E-3 since I was in JROTC in high school. It sucks though cuz I'm not allowed to do anything since I haven't been to basic training yet so all I do is help around in the office. Still, an extra $200 a month isn't too bad.

that's part of the reason i could never fuck with the army or anything like that. i wouldn't let someone get in my face let alone some stupid high school drop out muthafucka. also i have radical political ideas and i would never fight for this country. fuck all that.

both customs and border patrol are actively hiring through the end of the year. you basically fill out an online app. and get a test date right away. after that its testing and shit. its cool cause youre not waiting around hoping to get an interview...i went the border partrol route, only because after two years you can transfer to any government agency out there...plus people think its all about cruising around in the desert, its not. they got different depts. im trying to get into the communication/computer portion of it....im trying to set myself up for the future...as far as the spanish part, you do have to know it before they bring you aboard. the academy is condensed and you can test out of spanish and graduate in 10weeks. if you cant pass spanish you got to stay for an additional 8weeks or some shit like that.

the real question is......

HOW MANY OF YOU SIGNED YOUR LIFE AWAY THE THIS CORRUPT ASS GOVERNMENT?

HOW MANY OF YOU DNO'T SUPPORT THE GOV'T AND SIGNED UP ANYWAY, MAKING YOURSELF A SELL OUT?

If you do agree with the gov't, then you aren't. I just can't stand mutha fuckas who act like they gangsta and shit but then sign up for the armed services...that ain't gangsta...gangstas or gangsters do not support the US gov't.

That's for squares and suckers. Some of them are okay, but for the most part they're douches. In my experience at least.
