The main thing is that this E-40 situation has opened alot of doors for alot of people. There are cats from the Bay that are now getting SERIOUS interest from major labels, and this wasn't happening until "Tell Me When 2 Go" popped, and he quarterbacked the HYPHY movement to the NATION, and not just a region.

We should all understand that the attention is atleast back over here, and alot of people can and will benefit from 40 signing with BME, and "My Ghetto Report Card".

Understand that 40 could do like alot of artists and take his shine and run with it, and not look back. Instead alot of people are going to eat off of his situation.

He has supported alot of up and coming artists like myself, and has his eyes on supporting alot more cats.

Support this shit and help push it to the max, as it will benefit all of us out here that are a part of the movement.

Just my 2 cents.

the whole reason i started listining to bay music (and sacramento, n La) way back when was because it was the only type or music from a region that was still gangster.... it was real underground, real hard, and real "real." you couldnt hide that sincerity.

now in my opinion, the last few years, alot of artist have wanted to adopt that "mainstream" sound. if you dig it thats cool, but im not really down with that. to me, giving in to the mainstream selling out. now the whole hyphy movement i support soley because i have mad love for the bay.... not for the quality of sound. and that is honestly the first time i have felt that way about the music. i wana support shit that is good music. good music is good music no matter where it comes from, who has beef with who, and wheather its in a certain genre or not. but im just really not feeling the new bay stuff thats come out. to me now its just another dirty south krunk with a different word... all that originality is gone.

i still feel a lot of artists that i think are getting overshadowed because of the whole movement. because they arnt comforming to the norm, there sales suffer... on that whole "my block the bay" on mtv (which is bullshit cuz mtv showed no love to the bay untill they could make a profit, hints the new mainstream sound) i thought it was wack how they showed mac dre for hmmm 15 seconds.... no nickatina in sanfran, hieroglyphics didnt even get a word in... it just seemed like it was all for mainstream music.

i think this board should have all opinions from both sides as well. you cant edit n scrape away comments. opinions arnt hating. cheap shots n name calling is hating. just because one person dosent feel mainstream and another does means there's gona be some clashing. i support 40 cuz he's doing BIG things. but i just dont support that as a sound for the whole bay... and that has nothing to do with him... its just the bandwagon that everyone and there mother boarded.

anywayz my thoughts on the whole thing... just trying to keep it real

A.K.A. See there ya go Mis-reading into what Im sayng! Or basically i didnt say it right What I meant by ANTI Hyphy is basically Verbally explaining the difference between us and them meaning the two different forms of rap if you watched the MTV MY BLOCK Quinn touched on a lil he said "We support The Hyphy Movement but THERE's nothing funny about MY Raps!" We just dint wat to be known as Hyphy rappers or even catagorized as that! And jealousy of What Pimp??? didnt i tell you the sales comparison? We eat off our tyo of rap, and I have been supportin it from the Gate i gave most of these rappers their first shows and took their songs to radio! So no hate or Fake here just saying I dont like that shit it ruined my parties to be quite honest thats why i started the 18+ parties I have a certain class of btches and clientel at my parties they dont want dreads shook in hteir face or their 200$ shoes stepped on! My bday Party Labron James, Tyrese, baron davis, Larry Hughes, Goapole etc etc came and chilled all night you think they wanted they wanted to be bumped around by a Hyphy ass kid shaking their dreads and doing the Dummy lol! And the Get Low got very much ahted on epecially in the east Bay.. i dont know How old you are but go back and look at al the BIG BAY AREA remixes 5 on it, Dusted and Disgusted, the list goes on and on Never was a frisco rapper on it not just fillmoe RBL was selling 200k+ copies noone came across the water to get a feature! So Basically i dont care what YOU are offended about it dont Apply to you it applied to the movement as a whole and everyone involved in that movement know swhat i mean cuz we discussed it really it aint all seperate the real niggas in the Bay/Northern CA rap scene we all fuck with each other it just a few people thats not in the circle mad.. Cuz they aint eating thats in any business the jealous ones and the mad rappers are the ones that aint eating! And another thing this whole business is fake people say one thing when you're not around and be the same niggas asking for verses, opening at your shows, hook them up with radio people, etc etc. So with thats said i hope you see what i meant maybe Anti- wasnt the right word cuz that means against and WE WERE never against it just wasnt us. I love what the hyphy movement has brought to The Bay ATTENTION but before you say Jealous I HELPED launch this shit pimp so it doesnt Apply here And Im not speaking for the whole SF but just DD.
Chuck nailed this shit right on the nose. Rappers need to do themselves and not get caught up in this biases Hyphy scene. I personally don't like music that seems to bring the worst out of crack babies. Some people have legitimate fun and others act a goddamn fool. They use the music as an excuse to act out. Its time for KMEL AND WYLD to give equal opportunity to all rappers, regardless of their rap style. The BayArea is more than just wild funny bullshit, (San Quinn reiterated that on MTV). We have legitimate Lyricist with messages to speak about. Big Von and his associates better stop this fucking favoritsm and play everthing, otherwise your ass will get stopped. The FCC is watching everything, I recommend you go read the book "Hit Men". Joe Isgro was bigger than life and u see what it got him.

Ill stick by what I said if your in the same industry you should never talk bad about them. When I was a business banker at wells fargo and just started I would always pick out flaws on BofA or who ever else I was competing with for a deal. After i let that go my portfolio grew people don't want to hear you bad mouth your competion its a bad look. Good luck on your big projects comming out. Its opionon vs opionon this won't change shit. Good luck again. Why would anybody want to burn a bridge?
My whole thing is, people say they dont hate in the Bay Area. That is happening everywhere. There is a whole other set of problems, within that though, and to put a finger on it for any reason could be endless.

Interesting comments...

Hyphy is just a newer term for what has been going on in East Oakland. Side shows have always been a East Oakland thing from way back in the 80's. Read and learn...

Before there was Bayfair mall, there was a skating ring. The day before school offically started, everybody and they mama would drive.

Go back further 70's/80's were two different but dominant african american cultures existed in Oakland- Pimps and Panthers

The reason I focus on Oakland because culturally--Black culture especially has dominate the landscape of the Yay, from politics to cars. Used to back in the day Latino's out here had lowriders, not anymore--Scraper/Ripper Nation--that is one of my bay area quotable.

Anyways to continue, On San Pablo the Pimps would ride to check on their hoes, At Mosswood Park and others the Black Panthers would hold rallys, and family days, once trying to leave the park cars were backed up thus not being able to pull off right away--The beings of driving slow and checking people out. The beginnings of what we call Sideshow.

3 cities exist in Oakland, CA as do 2 exist in Richmond, I guess a couple in Vallejo as well as SF.

The economics of the 3 are different and over the past 20-25 years have worked themselves out to all different outcomes. To understand were we are, why there is a Hyphy movement, Why the Bay is still segregated and why our music which is good music too me, but to mainstream it is too agressive and flamboyant you must know your past.

Part I-for real folk desiring the truth

I dont really be on this board per se. I used to be on SOHH but i beg to differ this is the main board other than establishing yourself through myspace. The bay do get helluva hate from all over. We just dont agree on the vallejo artists.

^^^^^^

They DO HATE ON US OUTSIDE THE BAY...THAT IS A LIE IF YOU THINK THEY DONT

All I know is me and my peoples was out in Rosarito, Mexico for the E40 thang and everyone out there, niggaz and bitches, thought we was some coo ass cats just because we was from the bay. Muthafucaz straight looking up to us. And it's all thanx to this Hyphy Movement. It's way bigger than we think it is out here.

And to segregate us stressing bout this is AN OAKLAND THANG!! is retarted, and not the good kind. I hate ignorant muthafucaz like that, How bout from now on we stop all these rappers because rapping is a NEW YORK THANG!! We get it, Oakland did it 1st, frisco cats was out there at the same damm sideshows when it 1st started anyway. But my point is it don't matter, this civil bullshit politics needs to stop because when we're outta the bay we all looked upon as the same type of people. Black people from Zimbawe and Kenya are still BLACK PEOPLE to the rest of the world! So step it up you damm square butts, bay life whaaaaa!!!!!! They startin to really love us.
