Earlier today, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer announced that Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Juan Manuel Marquez, on September 19, will be available in movie theaters across the nation. Schaefer said this was project that he was working on for a very long time and waited for the right fight to make it happen. Schaefer wanted to bring boxing back to movie theaters.
“It will bring the younger audience back to boxing. Over 1,500 screens across the nation will show a 30 second commercial when you sit down in the movie theater and it will run before the feature [film] begins. On the night of the fight, 170 theaters in all major markets will carry the fight and give fans another way to enjoy this historic showdown,” Schaefer said.
