Kelly Pavlik May Land on Pacquiao vs Margarito Card

By Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com was informed about the strong possibility that former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (36-2, 32KOs) will make his return on the pay-per-view undercard to Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito on November 13 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Pavlik has been on the shelf since dropping a unanimous decision to Sergio Martinez in April. The opponent is under discussion, but I've heard the guys at Top Rank want someone who is going to test Pavlik. I've been told the weight will be a max of 164, give or take a pound.

Margarito's License Approved, Pacquiao Fight is On!

By Lem Satterfield

It's official, Antonio Margarito will face Manny Pacquiao for the vacant WBC 154-pound title on November 13 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Margarito's application for a boxing license in the state of Texas was approved, according to an official from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Last February, Margarito's license to box was revoked by the California State Athletic Commission following a hand-wrapping scandal which took place before his fight with Shane Mosley in January 2009. Margarito's ability to apply for a new license began on February 11.

Last Wednesday, Margarito the CSAC turned down Margarito's application to obtain a license to box in the state of California. The Mexican boxer faxed over an application to Texas later that day. The Pacquiao-Margarito tour is expected to start next Tuesday in Los Angeles, followed by stops New York on September 1, and Dallas on September 2.

yeah forget the fact Margarito is going to be HUGE next to pacquiao. I bet it's a good fight.

Solid undercard too:
Rigondeaux vs Cordoba or Bernabe Concepcion
Pavlik vs ____
Mike Jones vs Soto Karass (confirmed by top rank)

Look how big Margarito was against Cotto:

Look at Pac against Cotto (and pac is wearing shoes):

Rigondeaux vs Cordoba or Concepcion on Pacquiao Card

By Michael "Scoops" Doss

BoxingScene.com was advised by sources close to the situation that Bernabe Concepcion (28-4, 15KOs) and Ricardo Cordoba (37-2-2, 23KOs) are two of the names being mentioned as candidates to face two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux (6-0, 5KOs) on the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito undercard on November 13 in Arlington, Texas. Cordoba is said to be the prefered option for Rigondeaux.

BoxingScene.com confirmed earlier that former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik is in talks with Top Rank to return on the Pacquiao-Margarito undercard, and welterweight Mike Jones is another strong possibility for the show.

impossible it will be like the clottey fight. even if pac beats the shit out of margarito it will be entertaining. Margarito comes forward, throws punches and uses his face to block punches. Clottey comes forward, covers up and doesn't throw punches!

Shit you can watch the fight between the two to see the extreme differences in their styles while Clottey allowed Margarito to throw Compubox record breaking punches at him in the fight.

that's what I've been sayin. I think people are overlooking margarito in this fight just because he lost to mosley but mosley is a lot bigger/stronger than pacquiao.

Pacquiao is a true 135/140 pounder, Margarito is a true 154 pounder and Mosley fought mostly between 147-154.

I agree guys. Don't think this fight will be as easy as people are thinking...I mean...I wouldn't go as far as putting any money on Tony, but I think it'll be entertaining and somewhat competitive.

people forget Pacquiao took some punishment from Cotto. He didn't show it in the ring cuz he's a sav but he took some hard shots that did some damage (busted ear drum, etc.). Margarito might not have cement in his fists anymore but he still is the bigger stronger guy going into this fight.

I think pac should still be the heavy favorite, but don't be surprised if pac gets backed up, rocked a couple times and forced into some tough situations.

Unless Margarito is completely shot, which I don't think is the case, this should be an entertaining fight.

all bad for bob arum:

Bob Arum leaves Pacquiao-Margarito tour after son goes missing on hiking trip

August 31, 2010 | 2:01 pm

Veteran boxing promoter Bob Arum was forced to abruptly leave a planned three-city tour to promote the Nov. 13 Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito fight Tuesday, when he was informed his son is missing on a hiking expedition in the mountains above of Seattle.

Arum said his son, John, 49, has been gone since leaving for the hike on Sunday night. Arum was planning to board a afternoon flight from the Southland to Seattle.

"They've got search parties looking for him right now," Arum said of his son.

The Pacquiao-Margarito tour is schedule to continue Wednesday in New York City and Thursday at Cowboys Stadium outside Dallas, where the fighters plan to watch the Cowboys play the Miami Dolphins. The tour will proceed without Arum.

We'll have more on this development soon at latimes.com/sports.

What kind of son throws on shorts and a canteen to go hiking when he has the opportunity to be part of the Pacquiao-Margarito tour?

It just doesn't make sense.

Hey my Dad just opened a strip club but you can catch me at the bowling alley.
Huh?

If Pac-man is as good as his dick riding fans wants to let everyone believe, then this should be a easy fight for him. Stop trying to sell people on this bullshit fight. If Pac-man loses this fight then he was a HBO hype job like I stated before. Stone-Hands got beat half to death by the so called washed up old man Mosley. No way should the great Manny have any problem with this dude at all. Stone Hands is slow, has no defense, and Mosley took his heart.
