^micheal jackson on stage at a summer jam with a rapper is big......not #2 big, but its big......maybe a # 75 or something
Don't really agree or disagree with this one. Hot 97's Summer Jam is the most prestigious hip hop show period. It wasn't just Michael Jackson that Jay had with him, Beanie Siegel, Memphis Bleek, EPMD(any questions, ask Berner), and Missy. This was also when the Jay-Z/Nas beat really took off. Jay and Nas' beef was bigger than people realize, especially out here on the west coast.

There's a handful of other shit that COULD have been here, but overall, I think that XXL did a good job with the list.

how the fuck these make it to the top 100? it just shows that rap just ain't what it use to be :(
not really, alot of those you mentioned were big moments in rap. c'mon, you can't say Mase leaving bad boy to go to church wasn't big. I think alot of people in this forum are just as region bias as XXL is. I mean, that list is a definite NY influenced list, but still alot of those were big events in hip hop

nah, I think it's about MJ coming out, cuz Jay always got 50leven people on stage with him when he rap.....I seen him at shoreline and he came out on a lowrider bike with pyrotechnics (him thinking that all of cali is LA I guess :ermm:) but after his first song then the entire rocafella camp comes out behind him along with everyone in his old high school, the entire marcy projects, and 28 random people he just said "aye, you wanna be on stage?"

and I don't see any summer jam as being prestigious....I know hot 97 is the biggest station in hip hop and that makes their concert the biggest summer jam each year, but every station got a summer jam

i agree about him always having people with him...but as far as the Summer Jam thing, being the headliner at the one for Hot 97 is different. Biggest station, biggest market, biggest lineup. If you ask almost any hip hop artist, its like being a basketball player and playing at Madison Square Garden...there's just something different about it than anywhere else.
