I was wondering what everybody thinks of the way mac dre is seen now that he has passed away, when 2pac died he went from a great rapper into some type of legend, and now that mac dre passed people seem to see him as the figurehead of the bay, its just that if i remember correctly in 1999 or so he was seen on the same page as like Andre Nickatina or maybe Mac Mall, all im sayin is i dont completely agree on how mac dre's picture is on everything now that hes gone, where was all this attention while he was alive? I dont mean any disrespect but he wasnt the best rapper out of California, you know?

Thats how it is man. You not shit unless your platinum or dead. I always thought he would blow up because of his charisma (sp?) but unfortunatly he had to pass before alot of folks got to recognize his talent.

mac dre is one of the best if not the best out of the bay. when he died all that happened was people were exposed to his music and got a chance to hear his shit and it was a wrap after that. not talking shit about any other bay legend that has passed away but i know a couple that have passed away and they didnt blow up like dre.

i didnt really hear of mac dre untill a couple of days after his death and i didnt really listen to his music untill the summer of 2005 when i went to kasnas city. the first song i heard was "Mac Dre Boy" than after that i started listenin to his stuff more and more and he is my favorite rapper than i started listen to bay area music and i love yall music yall got but i think it doesnet matter if the person is dead or not i think it is just there respect level they had in the game and things he was doin when he was alive which was so important when he was livin and how dre started a movement and stuff and been puttin out records for years and his stuff is still gettin put out...i think dre stepped it up a notch after hearin the unrealeased tracks ive been hearin. RIP MAC DRE

Mac Dre wasn't the most lyrical but he had a lot of charisma, like his album It's Not What You Say, It's How You Say It. He was an originator and innovator, how many people can say that they made thugged out mufucca's do a goofy ass dance, there's only one person that can do that R.I.P to the Mac D.R.E. Fucc those mufuccas that took his headstone.

He was a good rapper no doubt about that. But the best out the bay I don't think so. The route he was going with his music i didn't like it that much he had a few good songs but to me the old Mac dre was much better then the new. With the old Mac Dre I could bump every song on the albums and be feeling it but the new wasn't working for me.

come on dre was a bay underground legend for a long time. the whole thing is he went to jail and then the underground bay rap wasn't popular. but anybody who's been listening to bay rap since like 90 or so knows dude was the shit.

When 2Pac passed he was ahead of his time... I didn't really listen to all his stuff until after he passed. That doesn't go the same with Mac Dre though. I had all his albums up until Stupid Doo Dumb, then after that it was select few. Some of his newer shit had to grow on me. I wouldn't say he the best or the most lyrical out the bay, but he is one of many. I think that some of the stuff he was doin set par for the other rappers in the bay. Why it was so big when he passed, I think is cause he was doin' it movin and suddenly put to a hault.... meaning he could've done greater things if he were still livin'. He became an icon for the bay... like 2Pac or NWA as icons to rap.
