what are you talking about?
To me it seems like there were a couple of hit records that launched the "Hyphy Movement" nationally and the buzz on Hyphy has sort of died down in the last month or so. I'm not seeing anybody else making any noise with the "Hyphy" thing...

You got cats counting on this "movement" to get them noticed but I'm not seeing any new hit records. What are the artists waiting for?

. Altogether i think there is still big things to come.
When it comes, it needs to be in the form of hit records. Just how Hyphy had some semi-spotlight for a second, another "movement" can come with some hits and snatch the spotlight from hyphy and everything else.

The reason why crunk worked for as long as it did was because Lil Jon kept the hits coming... Hyphy in it's infancy seems to have dried up already.

Diggs laid that dude the fuck out.

Anyways.. $hort Dogg got his big single played out months before his CD was even close to being out; was he riding on someone else's songs to get him big? Even Bossy was played before Blow The Whistle dropped. He shouldn't ride on Snoop's song to sell his record, that's just a bad idea. His next single better do big things, not for hyphy even, just himself if he wants to avoid flopping.

And Like I've said before, 40 dropped an album all by himself, he says he carries the bay on his back; but from a national perspective, he does nothing for the bay, he barely exposed Keak (got on MTV's My Sweet 16), but Keak doesn't have his own hot single.. only Keak is to blame for that, the majority of his recent solo shit has been hot garbage except maybe "On Citas"

FAB, Turfy, Fed Gang, they all coulda ride on 40's mild success so hard and sold out to the mainstream so fast, but they've been delaying their shit nonstop. The Pack has made the best efforts to go big, but unfortunately (although I find their music fun) they're fucking wack and do the bay an overall injustice. Young L's beats are more identical than any of Trax's beats.
If Trax's album had a big enough push it could've been something like a cult "Chronic," I'm sure that entire record could've fascinated the mainstream, but it mostly just interested local cats like us; and to us (me), it was rehashed beats and leaked songs.

Fed Gang, Turf and Fabby better do some good stuff (and Turf hasnt been impressing me, all of FAB's "hyphy" shit is borderline retarded: "Wheels On The Bus"? Oh my god ... but his "front of the bus" could be epic in scale ... and Feds already wasted 18 Dummy and Stunna Shades on us local kids.)
..rant.

too much shit gets released during the summer. its a smart business move to wait and release it at a later time. also why try to get something out quick when you can put more effort into an album and have it really slappin! Quality is the key. why do you think E40 waited so long? his album was a 4/5. Look at Turf, his album aint even out either. Look at Keak, his album is being released anytime soon either. Keak has a lot of pressure him as well. No need to rush an album. Look at Yukmouth, his MDMP has been pushed back from what i hear. QUALITY is KEY!

Ill agree with that too. Im not one who cares too much if the bay blows, I just wanna listen to some good music, it'll be just the same (or better) if it's never on MTV.

Hopefully you're right and the artists are finally concerning themselves with the quality of their product.

shit i dont even think the "movement" has really left the floor yet. Whos the people that really came out ....E40 and a few other folks but not much. I think its about to get bigger once 40 or whoever starts throwin more bay folks on songs. I just listened to that pack interview off of yellow bus radio and they said they were fuckin with Jive and a few big names so hopefully that will push the shit more out there. Altogether i think there is still big things to come.
im sorry to say it but pack aint gonna blow the bay up. and even if they do they'll give everyone the wrong impression about what the bay is about. i think their weak as fuck.....

I agree Peete.

Besides the OG's 40 and Short...nobody else followed up with anything memorable, on a national level. Not saying that its done for, but if nobody besides the veterans are going to step up and get out there...its going to fizzle away fast.

People need to see fresh new faces, along with a fresh new sound IMO. I feel like the whole push should've been based around the whole Bay Area rap scene, as opposed to one part of it.

most people knew from the start that the hyphy movement wouldnt last longer then a month except for bay cats because no matter how stupid a movement is or how wack a song is they always support it as long as its from the bay....the movement went out as fast as it came in...mutherfuckers need to realize that!!!!deal wit it..

You really have to give things time. Its spreading everywhere. Believe me. I travel to hella different states and Im always hearing about stunna shadez and ghost riddin. Its crazy. Right now, the train (hyphy movement) is just pulling out of the station...once it gets going...it will be full speed.
Its exciting to see it spread.
Has anyone hit up youtube.com and checked out off the people from all over going dumb, putting their stunnas on and lipsincing to hyphy songs?! Check it out if you havnt...

Dont give up so easily.
