Looking for mixtape submissions for DJ Coma & Kaoz Present...West Coast Comatose

Sup? Me and my boy Kaoz from the 206 are getting ready to put out a mixtape at the end of the summer. It's called DJ Coma & Kaoz Presents...West Coast Comatose Mixtape Volume 1. I'm modeling this mixtape after how the east coast DJ's do it, with a host, exclusives, freestyles, drops, and singles, but ours will be different than theirs with the tracks being blended, effects, etc.

Only west coast artists are allowed on this. I want raise awareness that we still can make slumps out here and it's main purpose is to promote the west. This mixtape will be like a T-Ski or a DJ Mark 7 mix if anybody is confused, but will have artists from all up and down the west coast.

Cool Nutz of Jus Family Records, who co-owns that label with super producer Bosko, is going to be the host of Volume 1. Right now we got some big names lined up, but we will need more tracks. We're going to end up with more tracks than we need, so we're going to pick the best out of whatever gets submitted. So if you're seriously interested in getting on this mixtape in one way or another, whether its your new single, an unreleased track, or a freestyle, then get at me. It's just gotta be from an artist from the west, and its gotta be tight, simple enough.

Here's an early version of the cover. It's going to change drastically, but I'm just showing you we're serious. Some of the names you see on the features we haven't contacted yet, some have agreed to do tracks on that list as well. That's just an idea of who will be on there. Thanks!

Its a CLEAR conflict of interest to have X&G on the cover (in some ways, even the mixtape)......but it sounds like a good plan.

What is the interval going to be? That is, how often will these be coming out?
What is the price estimate? And will these be in stores?

As far as Mo-X and Lil G being on there, Kaoz is putting the mixtape out with me, and if they bring a heated track for the mixtape, then they will be on there. I see what you mean, but their track has to be tight just like everybody else's, and if you look at what i said about the features on the cover, then you would see that I said that was just a sample list that was typed of examples of the type of people who we want to appear. Understand?

The intervals...I would like to release them as often as possible, they'll be less than $10 or right about $10, and we'll try to put them at places like frisco street show, rapbay, etc. Hope this helps tadou.

$10 is also pretty fucked up for something you're (presumably) not paying anybody for. You should try $5 or $6.

But seriously Tadou, we're not just gonna have some mixtape with all these tight songs and then have some shit song from somebody because one of the people putting out the mixtape is part of their label. That ruins the whole point of why I'm trying to do this. I just want to put out a mixtape that represents all the good music that comes out of the west coast. If you don't like what we're doing with the mixtape and think there's "politics" involved then don't buy it, and keep your mouth shut. It's our mixtape and we decide what happens, not some whiny chump on a forum.

And btw, $10 is a number I threw out there, and just because it won't cost us anything for features, doesn't mean its just a bunch of tracks thrown together. It's gonna be blended like an actual "mix"tape and have effects, scratches, etc. There's a lot of work put into that shit. $10 was like a maximum price that I named.

This mixtape will really represent the Westcoast, something that everyone can knock in their ride. It'll most likely be priced around $4-5 dollars with shippin, a deal you couldn't even find at Walmart with the kind of heat were packin on this project. I'm not even really trippin, it's just sometimes it seems like you're comin at me from one direction being hella cool and then the next minute on some other shit. Granted I shouldn't throw comments out there about breaking your facial, not cool regardless... but also understand something about UTR... we would never put ourselves on a mixtape for the simple fact that we could. That ain't cool at all, and THAT'S WHERE THE CONFLICT OF INTEREST IS. We haven't even gotten on the last two reigncraft compilations, not because our submissions didn't make it, but because there were no submissions. We been busy in the studio with our own shit, simple and plain... and even if this was a mixtape that I had a hand in, Coma would still be the one deciding if our track made it. I'm not interested in putting a sub par track on a dope ass mixtape knowing that when it drops people are gonna say something like: "you here that comatose mixtape? them other fools ate up X+G", believe me I'd rather have it be the other way around.

My main bone was the names on the cover......i dont know, man....its like every time Benzino puts his name on the cover, it annoys me. My bad if i transposed that.

I just get irritated with these comments that are made, it's not like has been the first time or anything. But all that aside we'll move on and do what we do. The mixtape will now be presented by UTR in association with DJ Coma, its gonna be something serious.

BTW- The cover is a nice work in progress, wait until you see the finished piece. Chrome has really been knockin out heat lately for us.
