Horchata is a central american drink that the mexicans watered down. My uncle who owns tropical foods distribution been making packaged central american drinks from horchata, cacao, cabada, pinole, pinollio etc. since 87 that i could remember. Go to a Nicaraguan restaurant and order a Horchata con cacao and taste the true essance of an authentic horchata.
By your fucked up logic and reasoning I could say the wonton is 100% italian. Marco Polo could have brought a fuckin wonton back from China to Italy, and then instead of using ginger some cook used Oregano and called it Wonton di Oregano. Hundred or so years later some dude in Italy can claim that wontons are originally from Italy cuz aint no oregano in china biatch. Horchata is made with different ingredients depending on where u are but if it's called Horchata it's based on the spanish drink (third time now).
Horchata was an old-world drink brought to the new world by the Spaniards and later enjoyed too by the Aztecs. In Spain horchata was made with with ground melon seeds but given the seeds were not available in the new world the Spaniards substituted the readily available squash seeds. Later almonds and rice were brought to the new world and incorporated into the drink as it is prepared today.
