Hmmm you're going to have to give me some time on this one, I can probably think of a heater. I'm wrong about the wording of the answer, I was wrong two years ago and I'm wrong now... LOL, "turned upside down" is 180 degrees around the horizontal plane, my understanding of it was mistaken with 180 degress around the vertical... If that's the case it's 1691 and the riddle doesn't work, but DAMNIT, in my head "upside down" means just that, but it's not. FUCK. haha, I'll work on the riddle.

A family made up of a mother, father, 2 infant sons, 2 infant daughters, a maid and a dog are stuck on an island trying to get to another. Their only means of transportation is one boat that can only carry 2 bodies at a time. The infants and the dog can't row the boat.

If the father leaves site of the two infant sons, then the mother will kill them. If the mother leaves the two infant daughters, the father will kill them.

But if you leave the dog alone with the family without the maid there, the dog will kill the whole family.

How can you safely transport the whole family from one island to another without anyone dying??

wrong..... original story says you can't leave both sons (daughters) with mother (father). It doesn't say just one.

It says that if you leave the FAMILY with the dog without the maid then it will kill them all not any individual members. That should work unless I read it wrong.
