You've probably heard a little bit about the controversy surrounding the release of PS3 stealth actioner Metal Gear Solid 4. Sources say that Konami has asked media outlets not to reveal certain details about the install times and length of cut-scenes in the game, in exchange for review copies of Metal Gear 4. Specifically, the word is that the game contains cut-scenes that are over 90 minutes long and that the install times are loooong.

In the course of a larger interview with X-Play, MTV's Multiplayer editor Stephen Totilo said that after he posted the original news, other sources contacted him and reiterated the extent of the limitations.

“I’ve had people read me the agreement… They’ve said don’t talk about the number of cutscenes or how long they are. Don’t talk about the mandatory installation on the PS3 or how big it is,” Totilo said.

omg, he asked gaming review sites not too reveal specific details! wow! Hella companies do that, it's nothing new. Besides, all of the reviews that have came out so far are near perfect scores (9.9, etc.). If the game sucked they wouldn't rate it so high.

And I heard the 90 minute cut scene was simply not true. MGS games have always had hella long cut scenes though, that's always been part of the game. You can skip them if you want.

Also, the original installation of the game is a good thing. GTA4 was the same way, took like 8 minutes to install but by doing so, there aren't many load times during the game at all, makes shit faster

If you played any of the Metal Gear solid games. You already knowin the cut scenes are hella long and theres many of them. I can honestly say this one of the only games where the story line is top notch. So I don't mind the cut scenes. Plus, it's supposed to be the final in the series. So they have a lot of loose ends to wrap up story wise.

^^you can skip all the scenes:

www.ign.com said:
If cut-scenes aren't your thing you can, of course, just skip right through them all.
Also, like I said I don't think the 90 minute cutscene is true:

"I've completed the game twice, and am the author of the forthcoming [GamePro] review," Shuman said. "Ninety-minute-long cinemas in MGS4 sounds like an exaggeration. Like the other MGS games, MGS4 definitely has a cinematic quality. And yes, some of the cut-scenes in the game are elaborate and occasionally lengthy. But not a one, to my recollection, even approaches 90 minutes."

"I think it's safe to say that the '90 minute cinemas' claim is a pretty big exaggeration," he told GamePro News.

Fuck, i'm not a big fan of any of tha MGS's so i'm not gonna be coppin this.. But still, like it was mentioned above, i think almost ALL companies ask reveiwers not to release certain information before tha games release date.. Plus, fans of tha searies are probably use to tha lengthy cut-scenes.. Either way, even if tha reveiwers said there were 2hour long cut-scenes and a 3hour long load-time this game would still sale a shitload..

Fans of MGS are die hard fans, they gonna cop tha game no matter what.

Who gives a fuck about tha hype.. If you compare video games to their "hype" then they'll never be what you expected.. Jus play it with a open mind and you'll get tha most out of it.. You'll either hate it or you'll love it, and tha 'hype' wont have anything to do wit it.

so you dont have to use the disc when you play ur games on ps3? its all stored on the hd?
No, as far as I know MGS4 uses all 50GB of space on the bluray disc, so it wouldn't be possible to install the entire game on your harddrive, considering there are 40GB versions (and even 20).

It will be similar to that of grand theft auto, where a small portion of the game is installed on the HD which helps with faster load times, etc.

Who cares. The game will flop just like every other game on the ps3. Most recent game that flopped on the ps3 was Haze.
how is it going to flop? It's already received near perfect reviews, such as 9.9 from ign.com and it's the most anticipated game on the PS3 and has a hardcore fanbase. Haze on the other hand got bad reviews and never really had much buzz surrounding the game in the first place.
