The Kobe Bryant-to-Chicago trade talks are very real, and they've been real for a while.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls have been having daily discussions about Bryant trade possibilities for at least the past week, with Bryant's no-trade clause throwing a unique wrench into the situation, according to sources.

The Lakers are asking for a package built around Luol Deng, Ben Gordon, Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah, which is more than Chicago is willing to surrender. Also, Bryant would not want to play in Chicago if the Bulls surrendered all four of those players, believing there would not be enough talent left to compete for a championship, and he would veto that trade even if the Bulls and Lakers were both in favor of it.

Further complicating matters is the division within the upper echelon of the Lakers front office, a house divided between the competing desires of owner Jerry Buss, his son, Jim, daughter Jeanie (and her boyfriend, coach Phil Jackson) and general manager Mitch Kupchak. According to sources, one faction seems more determined than ever to part with Bryant, while others still are hanging onto the belief that Bryant can still be persuaded to stay in Los Angeles.

Bryant sat out the Lakers' final exhibition game Friday night in Las Vegas after injuring his right wrist in the Lakers' previous game. It has become an accepted fact around the Lakers that Bryant still wishes to be traded, and two sources with direct knowledge of the ongoing trade discussions said Bryant's preferred -- and most likely -- destination remains Chicago.

So while the NBA's only no-trade clause gives Bryant a substantial amount of leverage in determining his future, it also is hampering the Lakers in their efforts to get something approaching fair value for arguably the best player in the league. One source said the Bulls' supposed opposition to including Deng in any deal had been overstated in recent media reports.

A source told ESPN.com that the likelihood of a Bryant trade before opening night seemed higher a few days ago than it does now, and a deal going down sometime before the end of November now seemed more likely. But the situation remained fluid, and with other teams trying to lobby the Bryant camp to get on the list of his acceptable destinations, the trade possibilities surrounding Bryant only figured to increase in the days leading up to Tuesday night's start of the NBA season.

the only player I remotely care about in that trade is Joakim Noah, only because he looks like he could be my cousin......I hella wanted him to be a Warrior, but if he were a Laker it would renew my interest back into my former favorite team. I never liked the bulls tho, I was the only kid in america that wasn't a micheal jordan fan.

DENG OR WALLACE AINT GONNA BE TRADED. WE NEGOTIATIONG DENGS CONTRACT RIGHT NOW AND THERE NOT DOING IT UNLESS THEY HAVE KOBE AND WALLACE TOGETHER. THE TRADE WAS SUPPOSABLY BEN GORDON, NOCIONI, TYRUS THOMAS OR JOAKIM NOAH, 1 MORE BENCH FILLER, AND A FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK. IF THATS STILL THE CASE, TAKE IT! WE JUST GIVE UP YOUTH BACKUP AND UPGRADING FROM A GOOD SHOOTING GUARD TO THE BEST SHOOTING GUARD AND PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE. ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT IS WE CANT TRADE NOCIONI UNTIL DECEMBER 15TH. THE BULLS ARE GETTING PAU GASOL OR KOBE BRYANT THIS YEAR THOUGH FOR SURE

Deng or Wallace have to be in it, or Kobe will never be a bull.

Gordon, Deng and Thomas plus a 1st Round pick would probably do it.

PAXSON SAID DENG IS UNTOUCHABLE IN THE KOBE DEAL AND THE LAKERS WANTED WALLACE BUT PAXSON SAID THE GAMEPLAN IS TO HAVE KOBE AND BIG BEN TOGETHER. ID RATHER JUST GIVE UP A COUPLE BACKUPS AND NOCIONI. THE LAKERS ACTUALLY WANT NOCIONI SO IF IT GOES DOWN LIKE THAT,BRYANT WILL BE A BULL DEC. 15TH. IF ANOTHER DEAL GOES DOWN, ITS GONNA HAPPEN VERY SOON. I JUST HOPE PAX DOESNT BREAK DOWN. HINRICH, BRYANT, DENG, AND WALLACE SOUND DOMINATIONG EVEN WITHOUT THE 4

The Bulls have said that reports of Deng being untouchable are exagerated, but I hope we don't trade him in a deal, I would rather keep Noah though than Thomas, Thomas makes spectacular plays, but also makes dumb ones, and will never laearn how to shoot a jumper.

I think they should trade either one of them to get Kobe because he is the best player in the league. Wallace is good but his best years are behind him.

I just dont think that the Lakers are going to trade Kobe for a bunch of backups tho. But they basically did that for Shaq tho and with Caron Butler, so you never know.

WTF...

I'd say take the trade if you can do it with Ben Gordon, Ben Wallace, and Joakim Noah being the main pieces.

Tyrus Thomas is going to be a better talent than Noah, and Luol Deng > Ben Gordon, in the long run, in this system.

Alright, I'm weighing in.

Im a Laker Fan of 20+ years and this shit has gotten hella tiresome.

Kobe's a bitch and I don't give a fuck if they bench his punk ass for the next 2 years and let him go. What kind of little punk works the Lakers to get a mega-contract, then bitches out after he aint able to carry the team beyond the first round of the playoffs?

What kind of punk bitches about a rookie not performing when he scored no points in his rookie debut AND choked in his first two playoffs?

Then this little fuck is gonna veto any trade that would be close to equal value for the organization he claimed to wanna be a part of for life?

Fuck his punk ass. Bench him unless he agrees to a trade that is gonna be beneficial to the organization that offered him everything.
