MJ went to overtime in that game. kobe did it in 4 quarters, also that same year kobe dropped 61 on the mavs in 3 quarters and never set foot on the court the enitre fourth quarter. That happens to be the year the Mavs went to the finals too.

who should Kobe try to mimmick, Nick Anderson? Billy Owens?.... MJ was the greatest, everyone tries to mimmick his game, its just Kobe is the closest to it. Now i hate Kobe and the Lakers, but he is the closest thing to MJ that we will prolly see, and while i dont think hes better than MJ, Kobe has definately made it an arguement....or this conversation wouldnt even be takin place...

That game went to DOUBLE OVERTIME...he was pretty much single covered the whole time...and his team LOST..

62 in 3 quarters against the Mavs in the same year is more impressive than both of them....

Jordan was still just crazy athletic in that time. That Boston team would've mashed on most if not all the teams today in the playoffs.

I think it was danny ainge or kevin mchale they just asked about this on Wednesday on TNT about that game. He was saying they planned ahead for that game on how to stop jordan and literally had all of the starters guard him at some point and couldn't figure out how to stop him for that game and planned around him for the entire game and still couldn't stop him. Yes, the bulls lost because they weren't that good of a team playing an excellent team and one of the better teams of that era.

It's not that 81 in a game isn't impressive of that Dallas game but it's one thing to play a playoff bound team than it is to play that team in the playoffs.

I don't know anyone that honestly thinks Kobe is better than Jordan that saw both of their play for their respective careers and definitely not anyone who isn't a fan of either and honestly, it's not even close to me. To each their own I guess. Literally the only case you can make for Kobe at this point is highest point total in 1 game between the two players, that Dallas game and the things he accomplished by coming straight out of high school. He's likely score more points for a career and playoff points than Jordan did because he'll probably have a longer career than Jordan did by the looks of it.

For the record, one more time, I hate Kobe. But I do recognize talent and accomplishments. Nowhere have you ever seen me say Kobe is better than MJ, but he has made the conversation. Or again, this argument wouldn't even be taking place.
