What are some good ways to prepare my taxes for next year to benefit myself? My brother told me I can claim the gas I use to get to and from work but I think that only pertains to if I had my own business as well as meals....What about gambling at the casino? you can tax that right but you would need receipts

theres hella loop holes and shit....id like some help to but did allrite on my own....me and my buddy who were in the same exact situation at work (both living on our own with no one else in the house...making the same amount of money)

he claimed 0 on his w2......i claimed 2......he got back like 2100 altogheter i believe and i broke near even (owed IRS 32 bucks) and got a check from california for 72......


but i made almost 100 more then him every pay check so i basically came up....



i thought i was going to owe at least a couple hundred but didnt

You can't claim loses unless they off set winnings...for example you win $3000 and get issued a 1099, then you lose $1000 more at that casino later they can re-issue a 1099 for the amount of $2000.
