No that's not what makes content good talking about lean and all that bullshit. I want to hear real shit, not shit just because it rhymes.

Not trying to change your opinion on K.dot music but you must not be really listening if you think he is just rhyming words together. Dam near every song he makes has a point or message in it. He's one of the few artist that makes music with substance...i would even consider his music "conscious rap"

I wouldn't call it conscious. Dude has major power behind him including some of the best production in the game. His 'story' is wack to me. If you want conscious you might have to go way below mainstream and back to the underground and below.

Look, you could argue X-Raided became more lyrically oriented over the last couple of years, but to me his music still resonated the most in the mid 90's- early '00s. It's the overall package that was better back then. Similarly it was pretty much the same thing with all the so called dope lyricists. Kendrick is stuck in a retarded era where his words are basically meaningless due to the style rap has morphed into.

Speaking of rhyming, it's one of the main reasons I was intrigued about rap (not knowing the language), yet it had that distinctive vibe that made it possible to get into. I might add Kendrick's type of rhyming is a turnoff as well as the off beat rapping. I'm not saying the guy is bad at all, just not my type of shit

I just checked out a few tracks of his, he's ok I always hear people praising and saying how dope he is, i don't hear it!!
I'll tell you why. It's the young generation, 90s babies and hell, kids born in '00. They growing up with Lil Yachty, lil uzi, Big Sean, kodak black, Desiigner, etc, dudes who literally sound retarded that can't even rhyme right, like even Drake is considered old school rap to these young kids and all these rappers are fucking garbage. In a way the worst thing that has happened to rap is social media and society being connected 24/7 cuz any no skill having "rapper" can get their music out there and somehow shit occasionally rises to the top of the toilet bowl and finds its way to the masses, so the rap game got flooded with untalented shit. Add to that it's fashionable to have that same ass flow where everyone spits a few words, pauses, spits a few words, pauses and repeat, which anyone who literally has a mouth where sounds come out of it can do, it takes no talent whatsoever to rap like that, anyone can become a rapper now, doesn't even matter if the sounds even form coherent words, as long as they could be words that's good enough.

So of course when someone like kendrick lamar comes out with actual lyrics, good production behind him with actual skills, he is going to seem like a god. When the next best rappers who aren't from the previous eras and arent 45 years old are fucking lil Yachti then yeah, makes perfect sense people are going crazy over his new album.

Extremely overated imo. Him coming up in an era of retards sums it up.

That said, Damn is at least an Ok project. I like 4 or 5 songs, which is more than id like on a Young Thug album.

My issue is that for 4 or 5 years, everyone below age 25 has been saying Kendrick is as good or better than Nas, Jay, Eminem etc. He just isnt. Tpab is probably the most overhyped album in rap history. It sounds like fake overly conscious cuts that Andre rejected off the Stankonia tracklist.

I try to not hold his fans against him. Damn is ok. Nothing more, nothing less. Way better than tpab

The oddest thing about tpab... was that i was told i just couldnt relate to it........ by upper class college white kids. I didnt care for the concepts, nor the music itself.

That album is the consumate liberal college kids viewpoint of some obtainable utopian society.
I prefer Damn because all of that was way toned down.
