By Rick Reeno

Roy Jones Jr. spoke out for the first time since his KO loss to Antonio Tarver on May 15, 2004. In an interview with USA Today, Jones shed some light on his future, Antonio Tarver and how he feels about his first legit loss. Jones said that he will return as soon as HBO clears a date for him and it could be against Fabrice Tiozzo at light heavyweight.

"I'm doing good. I'm dealing with it (his loss)," Jones said.

"I accept the fact. They're supposed to lower me after a result like that (pound for pound rankings). But at 35, who stayed there as long as I did? This has been a wonderful life for me. One loss does not change that. Nothing can take away what I have accomplished just because of one punch."

"Roy ain't gonna pack it in. I want to continue to fight. I am a true warrior."

"I had a premonition that I would get caught with a bad lick. Nothing I could do about it. I knew it was coming. I was so much more ready for this fight than the first one. But I had a premonition something like this would happen. I felt (the fight) wouldn't be like I wanted it to be. I was ready for this situation. But (Tarver) talks so damn much, so I hate that my day came with him."

"I'm giving him credit. He threw the lucky punch with his eyes closed. But I have to give him credit because he threw the punch at the right time."

Regarding the issue of which weight class he will make his comeback in:

"I felt really good at light heavy and I feel I can do it again. If a big heavyweight fight comes, you take it. But if not I'll do my thing at light heavy."

On a third meeting with Tarver:

"I don't need Tarver. We're 1-1 but he's gonna talk crazy (about money). He knows he got lucky. He'll talk like he's the draw, but he's not. I am the draw. I'm still the man. They still want to see Roy Jones Jr. A 50-50 split ain't happening. But let me make it clear, Roy would love to go right back with Tarver again because I know I can whup him. But Roy is no one's slave. Roy is still the one people want to see, not Antonio Tarver."

In what he felt when he got hit with his first legit loss:

"You realize how the 49 people I beat felt. It's not a good feeling but God was going to make sure I went through that at least once. I just sat there for a minute and thought, I did all I could do. Do I want to be mad? What is there to be mad at? What do I have to be ashamed of? You good, just keep going. God put me through something like this in Korea"

"It's hard for most good fighters when they fall but since I always assumed you could die (in the ring), I always assumed this could happen. After all, I am a human being."

Way to give credit where it's due Roy.

"I'm giving him credit. He threw the lucky punch with his eyes closed."

What???

Sheesh, be humble about it. You lost. He hit you with a brick. Don't take anything from the man. It was a good punch. You lost. Move on. RJJ is clearly one of the greatest boxers of all-time. Be satisfied with that and shut up...Damn.

I hate it when people can't just say they lost. It's always 'luck' that got their opponent over. Blah, blah, blah...

Good shit Cheeto! Hpw have you been pimp?

I like the way Tarver talks his shit (last night on Best Damn Sports Show). He basically is clownin Roy Jones for all the excuses he has been using instead of just saying that Tarver was a good fighter. Roy dont want to fight Tarver again and I expect him to take some time off from boxing and work on his singing career lol!

You can see the knockout by clickin on the link in my sig....

Man, even after a knock out like that, this fucker's ego is still in high gear!?
Roy is so full of himself, for that, he's gonna pay.
This is only the beginning of a living nightmare, simply because he refuses to humble himself....

What Jones fought Toney and ummm Hopkins like what 10 years ago! Jones is #1 p4p he's the greatest thing since Ali . Oh and Dont forget he moved up in weight and beat a champion in John Ruiz who gave roy all he could handle and to you haters who say John Ruiz is a stiff, he did beat Holyfield and he is a heavyweight champion, not everyone can become a champion.
The punch was lucky how dare Manny Stewart say that Jones hasnt fought anyone really worth mentioning what does he know? who is he to speak on Roy?

Someone dare try to prove me wrong, nothing I said can be disputed!!!!!!!!

Jones did beat Ruiz who is scrub. Ruiz beat Holyfield who was way past his prime when they fought. I don't think that Ruiz or Jones could beat the Holyfield of the 92-96 era...1

THE PUNCH WAS LUCKY AS FUCK, I DONT CARE WHAT ANY OF YOU LAMES SAY, IF IT WASNT LUCKY WHY COULDNT TARVER DO ANYTHING BEFORE THAT, I CAN SEE JONES FIGHTING TARVER AGAIN AFTER THIS NEXT FIGHT AND HE WILL BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF HIM.

AND IF THE PUNCH WASNT LUCKY WHY IN THE FIRST FIGHT WITH ALL THOSE PUNCHES LANDED ON JONES, WHY COULDNT HE EVEN KNOCK JONES DOWN?????

What has Jones done to Tarver to impress you? Jones got knocked the fuck out and was given a decision in the first fight. Jones cannot beat Tarver.

You need to listen to the remix of Jones classic "Ya'll Musta Forgot"

Roy's udated version of the classic song "Ya'll musta forgot"

Y'all musta forgot!
When I said I'd fight Lennox Lewis next
I'll say it but I'm afraid to prove I'm the best
Y'all musta forgot!
When I said Toney's weight excuse was bullsh^t
Little knowing years later I'd pull it
Y'all musta forgot!
When I said I was invincible
Then Antonio Tarver beat me down on principal
Y'all musta forgot!
When I threw the right
Missed it, then the left put me down for the night
Y'all musta forgot!
When I called Tarver a bum
Boy don't I look dumb?
Y'all musta forgot!
Even when I got my butt whipped
My excuses come fully equipped
Y'all musta forgot!

roy jones is a punk...yeah he stayed at the top for a long time lbs. for lbs., but come on roy, who the fuck did you fight?, who the fuck was your competition?, 3rd question...if this welterweight or whatever the fuck weight he was got lucky and knocked you on your ass to the point of you not being able to get up, what do you think will happen when tyson gets in one of his "lucky" uppercuts, what happens when you aint ready and tyson knocks you on your ass with a jab ?

i agree with some mofo above me, get off your fucking high horse, youre like the boxing version of goldberg...anyone remember when goldberg came to WCW with his 150-0 record?...dude was fighting guys like the brooklyn brawler and la parka, lmao...wreslting aint boxing but you catch my drift.

hey Roy fought Hopkins and Toney surely those 2 are enough to carry him for 10 years as the best. Sure he fought garbage men and police officers but hey hey fought toney and kopkins too.
